The Dukeletts of 74. champions in the conference, had a 6-2-1 record. Vince Melendrez and Mike Morrissey led the conference in touchdown receptions and touchdown passes. Coaches Jennings and Nicklaus directed twenty-three well disciplined players to an impressive sea- son. The team was overpowered by Mo- line for the first game, but it came back to beat Dekalb 14-6. The hardest game for the sophomores to win was the game with Sterling which ended in a 14-6 vic- tory. Pretty good for a bunch of sophomores. 22 sophomore football

c.c. runner strides again The 1973 Duke harriers ran their way to a respectable but disappointing duel meet record of eleven wins and five losses under the direction of head coach Jerry Broers and new assistant coach Tony Edgecomb. The team par- ticipated in numerous invitationals with the strongest being the Forest City Invitational with the team placing sixth out of 21 teams. The meet was highlighted by a first place finish by Kurt Graff. This year’s varsity runners were Pete Thomas. Kurt Graff. Bill Seeger. Mike Callahan. Mike Kreger. Tom Zmnen and Tom Nevius. The sophomore har- riers added bright hopes for the future with a record of sixteen wins and no losses. They were led by Duane Cowley. Ed Love and John Ortgiesen. Kurt Graff was the most valuable runner as elected by the team and also served as team captain. Mike Callahan won the most improved runner award. 24 cross country
