Mr. Richard Boyer—Adviser Paul Curnutte—Treasurer The beginning of the 1969-1970 school year marked another period of Student Council participation in school affairs. Led by president Craig Harrison, vice-president Mike McCarthy, treasurer Paul Curnutte, Secretary Kev- in Patenberg, and advised by Mr. Richard Boyer and Mrs. Sandra Burrows, the Council's first task was reviewing and approving the dress code. Working closely with the administration and faculty, the Student Council sought to revise the dress code completely and set up a more modern and flexible one. With the advent of winter, Spirit Weeks were sponsored bv the Student Council to raise the spirit of the student body. Before Christmas the annual Goodfellows’ Drive was held to raise money to help the needy families of Dixon. Leadership has been the key word in all functions of the Student Council this year. To improve leadership qualities, the officers attended workshops and conventions in various communities and also sponsored a workshop for students of Dixon High School. It was their hope that through these various sessions, the Student Council would become an effective organization working for the betterment of Dixon High School. Mike McCarthy—Vice-President Mrs. Sandra Burrows—Adviser 24

DHS offers a great variety of activities to satisfy the demanding needs of a growing student body as well as those of each individ- ual student. Students of Dixon High School have demonstrated their high school spirit and sense of responsibility through their active participation in school functions. Through stu- dent support, student council sponsored a needy family drive, GAA sponsored a March of Dimes collection, and FTA continued its tutoring program. Success depends on cooperation. Only by each student reaching out to fulfill his role can club plans become a reality.
