l MARIA R.-XQUEL ESCOBAR Hola and Chao are words which most D. H. S. students have added to their vocabulary since the coming of Maria Raquel Escobar, our 19131-1962 exchange student from Santiago, Chile. Maria Raquel was sponsored jointly by the Student Council and the Dixon Rotary Club, and was brought to the United States by the American Field Service. Since her arrival last August, Maria Raquel has rapidly adjusted to the Ameri- can way of life. She was one of our best football and basketball fans, she was a member of G.A.A., Dramatic Club, Student Council, and was vice- president of Campus Club. She also sang in the Treble Choir. Maria Raquel enjoys all sports, she plays the guitar and sings, and she likes to sew, knit, and cook., As a senior in D. H. S. Maria Raquel took linglish, civies, Speech I, personal typing, Ameri- can History and Clothing I. VVhen she returns to Chile, she must make up the year of school she lost by coming to the United States. She then plans to attend a Chilean University and major in political science. Maria Raquel says there are two things that she wants to do before returning to Chile: I want to learn how to play tennis and I'd just LOVE to learn how to drive!

Y1 SENIOR CLASS Class of '62, the four short years that you have spent at D.H.S. are over. From now on, you will have only memories of your many, happy, high school days. Remember how exciting your freshman year was? When you first entered high school, every- thing was completely new and different to you. However, after a few weeks, you got into the swing of things by electing class oHicers. Sandy Weigle, Carol Haig and Donna Crader were chosen. You selected Susan Kuhn to represent you in the Homecoming Court. Your sophomore year quickly arrived. When you began school in the fall, you discovered that several classrooms, a cafeteria and a gymnasium had been added to the original building. That year you elected Gary Carlson, Lloyd Bollman and Gary Flanagan as your class officers. At Homecoming time your class was represented by Lori Johnson. Mary Jones served as secretary of the Student Council. Susan Kuhn, Linda Lee Sherrie Miller and Sharon Willard were picked as frosh-soph cheerleaders. When you returned in September, you were 3 lower-upperclassmen. That was a big year for you-selecting your class rings, writing your first term paper and attending your first prom. Once again you chose your class officers-Lloyd Boll- man, Rollie Mercer and Kathy Jensen. Sandy Weigle was treasurer of D.H.S. Student Council as well as of the Northeast-Northwest Student Council District. Nancy Willstead was selected to be junior Homecoming attendant. Susan Kuhn and Nancy Willstead were varsity cheerleaders. You, the class of '62, suddenly became seniors! Lloyd Bollman and Mike Rock were elected president and vice-president of the Student Council. Terry Wasson reigned as queen of Home- coming festivities and Mary Jones and Donna Crader were the two senior attendants. Nancy Phalen and Susan Kuhn were chosen varsity cheerleaders. Before you realized what happened you had selected your announcements, ordered your caps and gowns, finished your last class, attended the prom, and, finally, graduated. Whatever you do later on in life, you will never forget the many memories of your life at Dixon High School.
