.lunIor Class The begInnIng ol thIs year marked the halfway poInt for the Class ot 51 The hrst two years of theIr stay at D H 5 are now hIstory so lets turn back a Few pages and note some of the more Import ant happenIngs whnch have taken place durIng those two years Remember way back when the rumors of today entered school as green freshIes7 One of the hrst thIngs of Importance to be accomplIshed was the electIon of class othcers Im Mercer was elected DFSSI dent, Floyd Acker VICeDl'GSIdef1lI, and Bob Russell secretary treasurer lnstead of the usual hazIng the freshmen were InItIated together on Freshman Day, a day set asIde especIally for that purpose Many freshIes took actIve part IH all extra currIcular actIvItIes open to them Freshman daze were hnally over and the class of 51 had rIsen to the l'1eIQl IlOl 24 sophomores These sophs elected as class ofhcers presIdent Floyd Acker vIce presIdent, Mary Ellen Rosbrook secre tary treasurer BIll Latlerty Sophomores entered wIth much zest Into extra cur rIcular actIvItIes and through hard work some were standouts IH those actIvItIes such as, Peggy Sue Anderson and ChIc Hurst In the held of dramatIcs, Bob Russell from the choral department, and Im Mercer Floyd Acker and Erme Brmk In sports Upperclassmen t last was the thought of many a IunIor as the class of 51 started Il1Stl'1Il'd year Floyd Acker was agaIn elected class presIdent, wIth Kelly Kappler as VlCepfeSId9l'1l and Wayne l-lutlord as secretary treasurer Qne of the bIg events whrch the IunIors of thIs year looked forward to was the IunIor senIor prom ln an attempt to raIse money to help pay for the prom the Class of 51 spon sored a unIor All School Party In the fall Every IunIor homeroom provIded two concessIons for lucratIve entertamment, other hIghlIghts Included the varIety show In the audItorIum and ClOf1CII'1QIf'Ifl'1e gym The IunIors have upheld theIr standards thus year and we know they WIllCOf1tlDU9 to do so ohn ones Kelly Kappler Floyd Acker Wayne Hufford
