advisor, inaugurated a sixth hour journalism class for juniors interested in working on the paper. Some ten students availed themselves of this opportunity to learn the fundamentals of news writing. YYhen thejuniors took over the Dixini at the half way mark in the school year of 1946-1947, the following received positions on the editorial staff: Georgia Curran, Manag- ing lrfditorg Phyllis Busker, Circulation Man- ager, Betty Shaver, Advertising Manager, Pat Dietrich, Exchange Editor, Charlotte Allicks, Art Editorg Elwood Schmidt, Sports Editor, jean Carkhuff, Assistant Feature Editor, Shirley Barrowman, Assistant Copy Editor, jim Angell, Assistant News Editor. All the reporters and the members of the advertising and the circulation staffs were juniors, at the beginning of next year they will take over the paper altogether. With a normal scholastic record, the class has some members who have been con- sistently on the honor roll: I-ilwood Schmidt, Phyllis Busker, Patricia Dietrich, Charlotte Allicks, Georgia Curran, Alberta Hannekan and Dorothy Vvillard. In its three years at Dixon High School, the class of 1948 has shown itself to be interested in studies and in sports and other extra- curricular activities.
