The water used for cooking, laundry, and the boilers is made by the personnel in The Hole. The division consists of four individual work centers with responsibilities that ranged from cargo elevators, small boats, and conveyors to power supply for tended units. Some of the other areas under the cognizance of E Division also included the ship ' s ventilation system, laundry, and galley equipment, as well as lighting distribution and the repair of electrical appliances.
