The afternoon started with the crowning of Queen, Cheryl McQueen and King. Mike Moore. The royal occasion would not have been complete with- out a court to cornplirnent the queen. Her ladies-in-waiting were Seniors Joanne Gearhart and Reda Mclntoshg junior, Bev Leisg Sophomore, Betty I-laleg and Freshman, Pat Putterbaugh. The King's courtiers were Seniors, Bill Dextlinger and David Stamperg junior, Roger Burchettg Sophomore, Wayne Siglerg and Freshman, Garry Moore. .The regal occasion was con- cluded Frith a dance entitled Pig- skin and Velvet, with the King and Queen reigning. election time comes to dixie As guest speakers honored to have the repre- sentative from the Ohio State Legislature, David Albritton, and the world- renowned track star, jesse Owens. Amidst reminis- cences and humorous anecdotes, Mr. Owens discussed today's youth and the large role we, as Dixie students, must some day assume in the world. The program concluded with many Dixie student athletes meeting and talking with Mr. Owens. iw if S QQ Agri S is A gfik in in i ' il Yf 1 g , , L . W ,- Am.: 1- 1 31:74 . These are the goals set by the Class of 1971. ei' 63 Graduation always seems a little silly unless you are a senior. Then, despite your too long gown and too big cap, and thattassel hanging in your eyes, you feel strangely important. On graduation night you are somebody. Your parents take pic- tures and make mov-ies of you, and friends shake your hand. People give you a break, and for once, everyone is on your side. You deserve it. You've graduated. You're out now. We had many student teachers this year--four in Home Ec. and 1 in English and Speech. We also tried something new this year called modular scheduling. Another new face around school was Mrs. Judy Clymer, our Teacher's Aid. She helped the teachers with their cler- ical work, monitored study halls, and helped at lunch with hall and restroom monitoring, much to the dismay of our illicit smokers. LEFT TO RIGHT are Mr. Arnold, Mr. Benton, and Mr. Yost who represent our Math Department. To the right is Miss Toney who was student teacher to juniors on modular scheduling. 4 Teachers and teacher- aid who worked with modular scheduling this year are LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. Clymer, Aidg Mrs. Kinningham, Englishg Mrs. Gilbert, Englishg Mx. Not shown is Mr. Jenkins, American History. 1Our Home Economics teachers Mrs. Blakeman and Mrs. Bowser fCENTERy are seated here with two of their student teachers. 125 Because of modular scheduling, students this year had more time on their own. They could go to the library, a study area, or the new student loxmge in the lobby. There was time to work on a class play, run the Bookstore , play cards and relax, cheer on the DMA football team against the faculty, or simply to stand around.
