Mary Ellen Schmitt has at last fulfilled her desire to raise horses and is perfectly con- tent on her ranch in Lexington. Margie Jordan became a well-known novelist and won the Pulitzer Prize. Betty Walden, much to our surprise, became the fat lady in Don Stone's circus. Jim Osborne, using his abilities of manage- ment, now manages the local stage l????l shows. Stewart Roadcup is happily situated in his soft job as chief tester of Beautyrest Mattresses. Fred Keene became Mr. America of l955 because of his magnificent physique. Earl Walls is now chief sportscaster at WCPO. Bill Shawe and Carl Shell have established a Covington business. Their motto is Shawe and Shell shine shoes sharply. Norma Graham used her Home Ec. experience in keeping house for a well-known execu- tive after she married. Don Deglow is Mayor of the up and coming city of Crescent Springs. Patsy Wert became such a good kindergarten teacher that she rose from elementary teaching to become The Lady Principal of Dixie. Bob Greene combined his musical talent with his scientific knowledge and became known as The Singing Scientist. Pat and Chester are now married, with Chester as foreman at The Decoursey Railroad Yards. Kanebrak is still thriving after all these years. Lal is taking it easy as owner and Cecil does all the work as Manager. Mable Martin married her Burlington fella and now lives happily on their little ZOO-acre farm. Jim Morrison took coach's training at Centre and came back as head football coach. He is almost as well-loved as our own Sport. Douglas Dunn has taken over Schuerman's Car Lot but will not go so far as to bend over backwards to please you. L Palmer Sandman has become a well-known wrestler but still retains his name of Pee Wee. Our other two lovebirds, Neva Bryant and Jack Pearce have married and are living happily in Latonia. Nancy Coleman is now widely known as Jenny's top buyer and designer. Don Snider, of course, stuck to his little car and is now owner of The Crosley Corporation. LaVerne Hopperton was selected as Miss Working-C-irl of l957. Sheila Johnson went to Miami and used her qualities of leadership in leading a Redskin to the altar. Robert Ledbetter is Chief of the Bromley Fire Department. Jean Sleet fooled her family who teased her about becoming an old maid and became New York's most sought-after young bachelor girl. Jim Kiser is still selling school supplies, but in his own stationery and book store. Ruth Stevens made use of her artistic ability and is now a top Hollywood designer. Laura Ann Moore is now starring in a top notch comedy show proving that her title of Wittiest still fits. Virginia Wolf has suffered a complete change in her quiet ways and is now the Mrs. Vanderbilt of today's society. Don Coney his made his fortune trapping in Alaska. And finally l, due to my great love for it, have established a school for prospective , cheerleaders. Having finished my investigation as to the whereabouts of my classmates, l set out on a visit to Dixie where l met some of these friends and we talked of the many happy memories that we had of Dixie. THE PROPHECY of the '49ers One pleasant Sunday afternoon in the year 1986, I was cruising along at the rate of 1,000 m.p.h. when I happened to sight my beloved Alma Mater directly below me. This set me to wondering what had happened to my old schoolmates and I decided to find out. Raising the speed of my auto-car up to 1,500 m.p.h., I hurried home to find out. I landed on the roof of my modern little home, opened the roof-door, and hurried downstairs. I turned my time machine back to the year 1960 and here are my findings: Paul Yelton became Dixie's first All-American football player. Janet Young took Nurse's Training and be- came Head Nurse at Annapolis. She resigned from this position and is now doing night nursing in Burlington. Maryln Harrison became a model and was America's best-dressed woman of 1955. Ducksoup took Goose Tatem's place on the professional basketball team of the Harlem Globetrotters. Janet Turner achieved her life's ambition of marrying a coach and now has her own personal football team. Jim Rigney is still having a gay old time and now is owner of Vestibula Farm whose horse Yes, Lord won the Kentucky Derby last year. Jack Sahnger is now in the fourth year of his long baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. Mary Jo and Evie are as famous a movie comedy team as Abbott and Costello. Their business affairs are capably handled by their manager, Charlene Witt. lra Richard went to Transylvania and con- tinued his studies to become a minister. Edna Miller has her own little dress shop and still pleases everyone with her sweetness and friendliness. Bertie Cuthbert, as cute as ever, is secretary to owner, Jim Wolff, of the Dixie Gardens Drive-ln Theatre. Janet Durstock, true to her perfect manners and ladylike ways, is now Dean at Miss Daugherty's Boarding School. Johnnie Eversole has replaced Charles Boyer in his duties of chief movie lover. Buddy Kenwright has followed in his quiet ways by becoming successor to Sherlock Holmes. I Kreks has taken Dena to live on his farm where he raises pigs. Kuhn and Martin are still together. They are now making their fortune selling Fuller Brushes. Carole Elliott is now dancing over in our neigh- boring city of Cincinnati and is the hit of the show. Charlie Otten's dream that Marian will help him run his grocery store as Mrs. Otten has finally come true. Bob Eaton and Jim Creamer are running a suc- cessful little garage in Covington. Needless to Say, Bob is happily married to Evelyn. The Women's Friendly Society has become a widespread organization under its able President, Joanne Caldwell. Mary Frances Penick now stars with Uncle Tom on the WCKY Jamboree. Mert Caldwell has risen from bus boy to the outstanding position of Head Waiter at The Lookout House. Joe Conrad is widely known through his own- ership of The Conrad Hampsters. Lela Bentley has gained the title Speed- Demon because of her championship typing. Page twenty-eight
