The Primary mission of Dixieis-' Repair Department is repair of destroyers, however, they are capable of effecting
many repairs to other types of ship's, especially during deployments overseas. To accomplish their mission, the de-
partment is sub-divided into 5 divisions, each specializing in specific areas of repair. Dixie's Repair Department is
capable of almost any type of repair needed by a destroyer except dry docking and jobs requiring heavy rigging for
accomplishment. The Repair Office processes approximately 1,ooo work requests per month for accomplishment by the
various shops. These work requests are varied in the number and size of the items to be repaired. Items as small
as a needle and as large as a gun mount are frequently encountered and accomplished through the professionalism and
inguinuity of the various rates and ratings Within the department. " CAN DO" is the motto and spirit of Dixie's
Repair Department and they live up to it.
