From its conception to its publication, it endured more obstacles than I had imagined. But, each time, we the staff, pulled together and worked things out. This gave us the opportunity to become close friends with one goal in mind—to overcome these obstacles and produce this excep- tional yearbook. Looking through our yearbook, I realize all of those long nights of putting this book together with my friends, were worth it. In all the extra-curricular activities in this school, I have never seen an organization where everyone was willing to lend a hand. I only regret that we were not able to use these people as frequently as possible. However, to those who dedicated more than humanly possible, Amy, Tyke, Rae, Kathy, Leah, I sincerely thank you. One of the Staff 67 To all our seniors departing, we wish good health, good fortune and Godspeed. The pears spent in high school soon fade into the past, except for some strik- ing or memorable moments. As the cares of each passing dap bear upon pou, pour memories are likelp to be of those school daps when pou were poung, zestp, carefree and heedless, — in other words, not heavilp responsi- ble to or for verp much. Life's promise stretched before pou, and from mp perspec- tive at least, our seniors each pear are beautiful! So much to learn! So much to think and feel! So brave and, at once, so timorous! So high the hopes! So great the promise! Bp now, we prap that each will have learned that each of us must educate himself, that each of us is responsible for what we sap and do, that each of us must act, and as free people, must answer to others: in short, to be what we will be, without blaming anpone. To pou all, mp beloved students, map the pears be kind to pou. Courage! ROBERT GRAHAM Acc Prinrinnl DR. JOHN L. Out on the field we exercise And then we run some plays The temperature is ninety-eight As we run through practice dazed. After two weeks of endless sweat there s news that we can’t handle The teachers vote to have a strike Our season’s left in shambles. We could have been a first place team There was talent and much pride But now we’re forced to sit and watch And there’s no place to hide. We can not blame the teachers though. They did what they thought was right But we could have been champions I think of this every night. With wins against Levittown Memorial once and Island Trees twice. It was not a very suc- cessful season when it came down to winning games, but it was successful in advancing tech- niques and helping friendship grow. Which was brought about by our coach Sue Bailey, who kept us together throughout the season and always gave recognition when it was deserved.
