We have met a person whom we have found to be not only a superb teacher, and a friend to all who know her, but also an individual with innumerable, ad- mirable qualities. Her patience, under- standing, and guidance have unquestion- ably played a great part in the production of this year's Perspectum. Her ingenuity and desire enabled her to find the time, even when she had little to spare, to offer concrete help as well as moral sup- port. It is a particularly appropriate concept with many mean- ings and interpretations. Change may be viewed as the single, constant factor which exists in our lives, our environment, and our society. It is a continuous force to which each of us and our institutions must respond in order to survive. Time, on the other hand, may be looked upon as the measurement of change which provides us with past, present and future dm Tsions. You, afesttjclentg, have been influenced by, and in turn, have influenced both these concepts during your years at Division Avenue. You have grown, have watched eachothpr |§|ow, and have caused the school to change and grow for the past x years. The problems you have faced, the many contributions you have made, and the values you have adopted are all aspects of change. The total dedication of this man to his students will not be forgotten as long as Division Avenue stands. Mr. Murphy was indeed a stern and forceful teacher; but for some reason, not understood by those who didn't know him, his students didn't mind. Mr. Murphy gave a great deal to everyone and asked very little in return. Yes, Mr. Murphy was a man to remember, a man to love, and a teacher—a teacher in every sense of the word.'' brian havens He aroused the aesthetic feelings for the wonderful world of music. He was the one human being who demonstrated that music was more than sheets and sheets of notes. Jack Aaron believed that music was the only true international language; a language for the young and the old. Music will change, teachers will change but to those fortunate individuals who studied under this maestro, their memory of his principles and beliefs will never change. john a. gough . . . She gave to mankind more than she had gotten. She believed that if you had done all that was really expected of you that was the time to give just a little bit more. This, in truth, is what Mrs. Murphy was trying to teach by word and example. It was the driving force of her life.
