DIVISION AVENUE HIGH SCHOOL JAMES R. REILLY, PRINCIPAL Dear Graduates of 1962, Retrospection is both a responsibility and a pleasure for naan during his journey through life; with this ability he prepares himself for the future by reviewing his experiences, by evaluating his successes, and by analyzing his failures; he girds himself with fortitude and faith to stride forward to meet the challanges of tomorrow. The theme of this Perspectum will enable you to pause at this way station of your life - your high school graduation - to relive the past four years. As the pages flip before you, as you move again through the pictures of your school career, you will begin to repair and reenforce your foundations of life. Welcome this opportunity for the journey is still long and arduous, A nan of wisdom once counseled a youth that the future is today; our strengths and weaknesses of today, our desires and ambitions of today are what they will be in the future. If that be so then we must as intelligent, free human beings live today to the fullest of our talents and abilities. May the next stage of your journey take you far and may

Congratulations, Graduates! At long last another milestone has been achieved. For some it may seem an end; to others, just a beginning, but education must never cease. Education is the road to abundance and material wealth but education also is the road to cultural enrichment. Most important, educa- tion is the road to genuine freedom. If every member of the Class of '62 faced the reality of what the fulfillment of the anti- democratic objectives rampant throughout the world today would mean to him, he would be inspired to continue after graduation to work harder and study longer to protect and preserve the individual liberty and freedom which is the mainspring of our American way of life. If you continue to develop a strong and self-reliant character and resolve to be men and women who do things, instead of evading re- sponsibility with excuses, you must inevitably become leaders and valuable members of so- ciety. Very best wishes to you all for a lifetime of true success and happiness. 14 JOHN F. QUIRK Assistant Principal
