We know that one of the most consoling and illuminating doctrines of our Holy Religion is the truth of God's providence overshadowing us. It is at once a compensation and an indisputahle pledge of our faith. We are neither the puny victims of some fatalistic power, nor the cast- off subjects of an indifferent and loveless Lord. We are creatures of an infinitely good and wise and powerful Being. He is our Father in Heaven, and His will is that in all our needs we will have recourse to Him. His providential care is ever at our service. He makes but one condi- tion: that in all things we SEEK . . . FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS IUSTICE AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU. Matthew V I Chapter 33, Communion of the Mass for Divine Providence Sunday, Fourteenth after Pentecost. Mother lVlary Kenneth Provincial of Sisters of Divine Providence Allison Park, Pennsylvania Mother Mary Kenneth is one of the three provincials of the Divine Prov- idence Sisters in the United States. Nlothcr is thc person whose duly it is to assign teachers to our school. Our faculty represents a great part of school life, and it is not mere chalice that made possihlc our education under the capable direction and guidance of these nuns. Here, in the Providence of God, We have the pattern of a full and complete life. We pause to pay tribute to those Who during the past four years have opened the avenues of learning of the Catholic educational system and have made every effort to mold character in accordance with the true principles of Christian living. WE EXALT THE PROVIDENCE OF COD, WHO GAVE US THESE VALIANT WOMEN AS OUR TEACHERS. D.P.A. as it is today. Where will the new academy bc? Although there has been no formal announce- ment that Hl'flXCilYt1ll0Il ceremonies for the new academy building will take placefl' we pledge our word to do all we can to hasten the day of its completion. We were happy here, but we trust that future classes will enjoy a beautiful new D.P.A. CLASS VALEDICTORIAN Charlotte DeCregorio is happy to tell her audience that the Divine Providence which di- rected the studies of the Class of 1958 has made them richer by giving them a complete trust in Godis loving Care and a prepara- tion to lace lile's dilficult proh- lems. SALUTATORIAN Grace Carlisano welcomes the relatives and friends of the class to the Commencement Exer- cises in the beautiful chapel of the Motherhouse where year alter year D.l'.A, graduates have heen sent forth with a final Bene-diction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. I I I 3 PIRITLI L LIFE Divine Providence Academy has given us four years of spiritual advantages. Reli- gion for a lasting life will always be an inspiration to do great things for the glory of Cod and the salvation of souls. Our Divine Savior has shown that He is especially pleased with our class, for He has already called one of our class to His Service. Rosemarie - Postulant - Sisters of The Third Order of Saint Francis, Buffalo, New York. God has also chosen another from our group. Mary Bolgert will enter the Sisters of Divine Providence this summer. BEHOLD, O God, our protector, and look on the ,face of Thy Christ: for better is one day in Thy courts above thousands. How lovely are Thy taber- nacles, O Lord of hosts! My soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. Introit for the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost. In September, Sis- ter Paul Marie for- mally installed the Stu d e nt Council. During the cere- mony in Chapel, Jane Weber hands her light to Darlene. After having recited her pledge to our Blessed Lady, Carole offers her a rose. The day was all too short at Saint Francis Retreat House where we made our yearly retreat. This year, for the first time We went out for the dayn instead of having a priest come to school. The feature we liked best about the retreat was that each class had its own day. Father Urban gave the retreat to each group. The Capuchin Fathers have been very gracious to us during our school days. They never miss Thursday before First Friday for Confessions and our eleven o'clock Mass on First Friday, which certainly afforded every girl ample op- portunity for Holy Communion. Third Order rated high this year under the zeal- ous instruction of Father Angelus. Barb, Irene, Gerry, Mary, Darlene, and Shirley listen atten- tively as Father plans the year's program. The student body wit- nessed Profession cere- monies in the Academy Chapel. lVlary and Shirley are not yet full-fledged Third Order Members. We are proud, too, that our seniors have been in- ducted into the uPoyerel- losn and that several are now teaching Sunday School to public school children. f 'A , :A hw gp, Q ,:, f igkgkrz. 4 Z , lf -in fa HA, ' 'Fl gf 9 4 , Q 4 ff, Af Lik- m If 5 ga Y , 1, , .,-. , ef , 5 ? f W .MF , X mi W wma MARIS 42 Y' W xi mv Father James blesses the crowns held by Pat, while Nancy, the May Queen, kneels and prays. Delight in the Lord, and He will give thee the requests of thy heartf' Ps: XXXVI, 4 Nancy places the special jewel-trimmed crown on Our Lady, the Queen of May. SCHCDLASTI ACTIVITIES Our academic program is merely a carry over or rather a continuation, one might say, of our spiritual programg for in every subject the Christian Social Principles were always instilled in us. As we here see our other classmen por- trayed, we recall that our own years as underclassmen were very much like theirs. These pages are rich in the warmth of friendship which we shared with those who in the Providence of God were destined to walk the halls of D.P.A. with us during our four years. There were moments of difficulty, but there were hours of achievement, and always there were friends-friends chosen by a LOVING PROVIDENCE. Mary Kay, Joanne, Patricia Suleclcy, Marianne Spinelli, Marie, Patricia Steward, Rosemary, and Mary Ann Vincunas seem anxious to see the new film strip on Pennsylvania History which Sister Rosalie is hastily examining. ,QU .
