Staff Captures Memories It was the hope of Editor Steve Riano to include more copy, to achieve pleasing layout designs, and to record the year in a way that would make the 1978 Delphic Echoes one that will have a reserved spot on the bookshelves of homes throughout the valley. Stan Carrizosa described the years events with colorful de- scriptions while James Lee coordinated the photographic efforts as head photographer. Others working on photography and taking their turns processing film, making contact sheets, and enlarging prints were Stan Carrizosa, Dale Grant, Scott Seargeant, Tim Smith, Wayne Hasebe. and Jeff Doughty. Other staff members included: Pam Counts, Kathleen Cunnea, Karen Furrer, Mike Golbek, Julia Gomez, Michelle Hayes, Joan ff Honda, Terri Jones, Lynette Kirkpatrick, Rhonda Lunsford, ' J Denise McCord, Bruce Nii, James Schaffer, and Danny Wolco .D b ,tl I Miss Nina zanucchi advised the staff. X Sharing, Giving nd Learning The year 1977 brought many things to DUHS , students. One of the first was our AFS exchange student Denise Quinton. Denise came to us from Australia and is by far the prettiest exchange student ever. Shortly after school began and old friends were re-united, our annual Raisin festival began. This year Miss Julie Burt was crowned Raisin Queen. As late September rolled around so did the Orosi Cardinals. On September 30 the Cardinals came to the Emperors home stadium for the rival football game. Little did they know they would go home de- feated as Dinuba won 21-8. Another new addition to the football field was a first year staff of Junior Varsity cheerleaders. These were three girls selected to follow and cheer for our J.V.'s throughout the year. The girls were sophomores Denise McCord, Gayle Ekizian, and Carla Carver. After a short road trip the Emperors came back to celebrate homecoming. On October 14, before a fine crowd, IVliss Shawn Rielly was crowned 1977 home- coming Queen. When they weren't going to football or basketball games, DUHS students were going to Fantasy ' Company's Saturday Night Live and The Gong Show. Both were a smashing success and a new style for our drama students. While attending our basketball games with hopes of another league crown, our people had something new to watch. 1978 brought DUHS a new girls basket- ball team. The girls now have their own league with JV and Varsity squads. Dinuba students also found that the need for blood was high in our valley. So a day was set up for high school students to give blood and DUHS produced an impressive 58 units. 4' Story Of The Year 7
