She belongs to the G.A.A., the tennis team, and was vice president for the Girls' Block D and Girls' League for '56 ln her Junior year, she was Queen of the League Track team. Marlene is a member of the C,S.F. and Rain- bow Girls. She was a banner carrier for the band for three years and participated in band shows and class assemblies. She also be- longs to a mixed quartet and a dance team. both of which perform for the public Benny Kar, Student Body President, was chosen Senior boy most likely to succeed and most popular Senior boy . Most pop- ular boy of his class all four years of high school, Benny was the recipient of the Bank of America Award for Math and Science, the School Award for Laboratory Science, and was nominated for the Air Academy. She is a life mem- ber ofthe CSF. of which she is secretary, and is Salutatorian for this graduating class of '56 Karol, in her Junior year, won the Debate Championship and ranked fifth in California, for extemporaneous public speaking. She is president of the Tri-l-li-Y, is active in the youth group of her church, and a member of the Rainbow Girls. Karol plans to attend college, majoring in the field of Social Studies. Besides being Student Body President for '56, Benny has held the offices of Freshman Class President, Band President for '55, and Boys' Federation Vice President for '55. Instead of being week, the Se hazed, the freshmen divided into groups, had a project such as hoeing weeds, etc., and were supervised by the Seniors. After three years of placing second by less than a traction of a point, the Class of '56 finally won the Class Assembly Trophy. Carrying on the tradition of Senior Dress-up Day, which hadn't been held since l954, the Seniors came to school dressed as assorted characters and animals on Friday, April 6. The Senior Class also sponsored two dances and took second place in the interclass track meet.
