School spirit, sportsmanship and financial difficulties comprise a few of the phases of school life through which they have guided the students. administration shapes d.u.h. . policies An outstanding Board of Trustees has made possible many new buildings and improvements at Dinuba Union High School during this past year. New bleachers, an excellent track which meets Cl.F. standards, and new shop buildings to house the auto, wood, and agriculture shops were con- structed during the year. Because of these and many other improvements, such as painting the old buildings, students and faculty of Dinuba High owe these board members a vote of thanks and appre- ciation, which we now gratefully extend. Joanne Munson, who has been very popular during her four years at D.U.H.S., served as Student Body Treasurer this year. She has been vry active in the Music Department, being accompanist for the girls' chorus all four years, singing a solo for the l953 Band Show, and playing a piano solo in the i954 Band Show. This year, for the Spring Concert, she played another piano solo, accompanied by the band. She was a Raisin Day queen attendant in l953, and in her Junior year she was a queen attendant to the Military Ball and F.F.A. Barn Dance. Billy Oliver has been active in sports, participating in both football and basketball, and is a member of the Boys' Block D. He participated in the class assembly in his Junior year. This year he has been Boys' Commissioner of Awards. 1965 reunnon of the class of '55 You are cordnally nnvnted to the ten year reunnon of the Class of l955 of Dnnuba Hngh School R S V P I recenved that nnvntatnon three days ago and nmmednately began preparatnons to at tend Naturally my thoughts turned to my former classmates and I wondered what had happened to them Fnnally the day came when I was to board the chartered plane for thns specnal occa snon and head for Calnfornna I knew nt would be several days before we would be nn Calnfornna but I also knew nt would be a lot of fun because we were to pnck up a lot of my frnends on the way As I made myself comfortable on the plane I was surprnsed and happy to see Bnllne June Eaton who was the stewardess for our trnp As we talked she told me there were several of our old schoolmates on the plane Lynn Huls was the pnlot and Roger Hope was co pnlot Bnllne sand I could go up to the control troom and say hello On the way bock to my seat I notnced a man I should know and sure enough nt was Tom Domnno He told me he ns now on ex wrestler havrng had hns last match the nnght before One thnng I must not forget he was undefeated We sat and talked un tnl we found we were lust about ready to land nn Mnamn for a short Iayover When I stepped off the plane I decnded to take a short walk and stretch before the plane left agann As I walked down the street a neon lnght caught my eye It read Last Nnght Snngnng Sensatnon of Mnamn Pete Engstrom Why of course Pete my old schoolmate I just had to hear hnm be fore I left agann so I went nn It was qunte crowded so I had to take a table wnth some one else and who should that someone be but Lenore Franco of all people' She sand she was vacatnonnng nn Mnomn and was want nng for the plane when she saw the neon sngn as I had We talked for a whnle of our schoolmates and I asked her nf she knew of any others here nn Mnamn She sand Sonya Flynn and Esther Garcrna man aged thns nnght club and was I surprnsed' They were closnng the club after Pete s per formance tonnght to be able to go back for the reunnon Lenore also sand Glenda Franks was the prnncupal of the hngh school here nn Mnamn and that Norma Baracca and Joann Cowen were teachers nn the same school I asked nf they would be able to attend the reunnon and she sand they were closnng the school for a week nn order to be present Fnnally the tame came for us to board the plane so we left the club Our next overnnght stop was New Orleans As the plane landed I wondered whom I would see now I decnded to fnnd a hotel rnght away and freshen up before gonng out to eat I fnnally found a taxn and who should the drnver be but Don Demaree He told me Larry Brewton and he owned the Blue Cab Servnce I asked hnm where the best hotel nn town was and he sand Hotel New Or leans of course because Luther Hunnncutt was the manager He let me off nn front of the beautnful bunldnng and I told hnm I would see hnm at the reunnon I went nn and regnstered and the bell boy came and took my bags and who should the bell boy be no one but Eddne Fnerrol He took me to my room where I cleaned up a bnt As I left my room to have dnnner l ran nnto Robert Sloan He sand he was nust Ieavnng to go and eat and asked me nf I would care to nonn hnm As we walked down the street he told me he had Inved nn New Orleans for about snx years and was a very wealthy banker He sand he knew of a very nnce Spannsh restaurant lust a block away and asked me nf I would Inke to eat there As we walked nn he told me that Eva Tapna was the manager and cook of thns Spannsh restaurant Here we found Barbara Haw knns and her all gnrl orchestra playnng As we sat down the orchestra was playnng and I notnced that Ruth Tuey was playnng a vno Inn nn the orchestra The musnc was won derful and the food was marvelous Sachnko Umeda was our very nnce wantress and we notnced Geronnmo Segura was helpnng Eva nn the kntchen Everythnng was lust perfect On the way back to the hotel Robert told me that Phyllns Smalley was a professor of entomology at the Unnversnty of New Or ,, . . . . . 1, . . . . II ' 1 I 1 I ' I H . . . . . . . . 11 - ' ' 1 1 I I ' ' I , . - 1 , . . , . . leans and that she was takung tume off to fly back to the reunuon At the hotel I thanked Robert for the lovely dunner and went on up to my room to get a good nught s rest The next mornung I got up early and de cuded to shop for a new dress before Ieavung New Orleans I walked down the street and found a dress shop called Dullon s Clothes for Women ' so I decuded to go un As I walked un I saw a very pretty dress that was beung modeled by lof all peoplel Elaune Balentunel JoAnn Day the sales gurl told me that Beverly Dullon owned the shop and was doung very well I was so happy to talk to them and to see they were doung so well Beverly saud she was closung her store for a few days so she and JoAnn and Elaune could attend the reunuon I left the shop and headed back to the aurport gust un tume to board the plane I made myself comfortable agaun and looked around for some more famuluar faces and I spotted two un the rear of the plane After we had taken off I got up and walked back to say hello to Dave Depew and Lloyd Wat I dudn t have to ask them what they had been doung because ut was un all the papers and everyone knew Dave holds the Olym puc shot put record and Lloyd us a famous jockey brungung un SOO wunners un one year After talkung to them a whule I returned to my seat pucked up a magazune and be gan to read Pretty soon I heard a vouce ask me uf I cared for somethung to drunk and who should the vouce belong to but my old pal Joanne Munson She saud she had replaced Bullue at New Orleans and would be our hostess untul we arruved un Sacramento She also saud the pulot had been replaced by the only gurl TWA pulot un the world none other than Lee Walden I laughed and told Joanne I wasn t sure I wanted to stay on the plane We remunusced and before long we found ourselves ready to land un St Louus Mo We were told by Joanne to hear Pete Ber mudez and hus band who were playung at one of the nught clubs un St Louus She saud Toye Wells played a mughty mean trumpet and that Don Lawrence can really make a clarunet sung Sh also saud that Darlene Young the sungung sensatuon from South Susquehanna who was sungung wuth hus band had the only paur of vocal chords that could reach Pete Joe s new sound We dud have tume to take un a Iuttle of hus musuc and ut was terrufuc' Whule wautung at the aurport I bought a copy of the St Louus Journal and was I sur prused to fund that Dolf Wagner was the edutor un chuef and that Martha Beck Inez Cude and Bobbue Jean Cooksey were report ers and dud a mughty fune job As I read on I found an artucle about skun duvers Well for goodness sakes ut seems Gary Artley owns a shup and has two skun duvers workung for hum Arlayne Tullus and Alberta Baerg They have been duvung off the coast of Mexuco lookung for sunken treasure There was also an artucle about Carolyn Colluns Just yesterday ut seems she deluvered her thousandth baby' She us really doung a fune uob as a doctor It also mentuoned that Wanda Ware was her head nurse There was stull a Iuttle tume left before the plane was to leave agaun so I decuded to take a short walk I had walked only ung and read the sugn Cochrans Spud Shop I decuded to go un and see uf by any chance the place belonged to Gary Cochran and sure enough ut dud We talk ed a whule and he told me Wulmer Warken tun was hus head mechanuc and Muke Cude was hus test druver He saud the three of them were plannung to leave that evenung for Calufornua un one of hus new model cars I wushed hum luck and told hum I would see hum at the reunuon Back on the plane agaun and on our way to Butte Montana where we would spend the nught We arruved un Butte about 7 p m I took a taxu and asked the druver to take me to the bug Dude Ranch that Id heard so much about I arruved to fund that Wayne Anderson owned and operated the huge ranch I was also told by the desk clerk that Wullard Culver was the foreman After I had cleaned up I went down to the lobby and unto the dunung room I saw someone motuonung to me so I walked over tothe table Of all peple there was Irene Brewton Bully Cullers Gary Blake and Max I . . The Band's biggest event was their overnight stay in Long Beach, where they participated in the Annual AIl-West- ern Band Review, held there each year. They took first place in their division. This year the Band presented a Spring Concert instead of the traditional Band Show. D.U.I-I.S.
