And after We leave Dinuba Hi, may this, our '47 yearbook, link us through all the coming years, to one of the best and happiest years of our school life. bedicativn - Q - This 1947 yearbook is dedicated to Dinuba Joint Union High School, and all that it stands for. It might seem strange to an outsider that the 1947 Delphic Echoes is dedicated to a building, but to the students and the faculty, D.U.H.S. is not just an in- animate building-it is a friendly being that awakens with the arrival of the first student, and slumbers only after the last student has left. Our school, whose personality is the composite of its students and faculty, is no better than you who Walk along its corridors. N0 one, from frosh to teachers, can help but form an affection for a school which has played such an important part in their lives. With this in mind, it is with sincere love and loyalty, there- fore, that We dedicate this yearbook to Dinuba Joint Union High School, and What it stands for. Edward D. Morgan, in one short year, has become a personal friend to all the students. He has Won our respect by his fairnessg he has Won our confidence by his good judgment. Both have been all around students during their four years at D.U. H.S. , . Patsy Kelly, iwho was voted most pop- ular girl in her freshman and junior years, served as vice president of the Student Body this year. She has been exceedingly active in athletics, being one of the first in many years to receive four D's. In Schol- arship she was one of three graduates to receive a Gold Seal on her diploma. Pat has served as a C.S.F. president, has play- ed supporting roles in Student Body plays in her junior and senior years, and has held offices in Rainbow for Girls, of which she 12 is an active member. She Was 'one of the Military Ball Queen's attendants in her Freshman and Junior years. Jim Stormont, who Was voted most popular boy in his class in all four years, and who this year served as Student Body President, is proudest of' his sports record. Jim would have chalked up four years' participation in football and baseball, if he hadn't been hampered by a broken arm received while playing baseball. He has served as Freshman class president, Stu- dent Body advertising manager, and Mas- ter Counsellor of DeMolay. Jim played the leading role of 'fGrandpa,' in this year's Student Body play, You Can't Take It With You. As a junior he took part in the class play. By introducing new and different activities, such as the Stu- dent Body Carnival, and the Senior Ball, and by reviving pre-war activities, such as the Junior Class Play, Junior and Senior Banquet, and the Bonfire, they have suc- ceeded in making each school year a more interesting one, both to themselves and to the Student Body. In this annual retreat the cadets, under the supervision of Major Creveling and First Lt. Price, demonstrated their skill at military training and tactics. The Military Ball, sponsored by the cadets, was held March 21 in the gym. The main event of the evening was the crowning and kissing of Queen Jane Leach by Cadet Major Ted Celaya. Approximately twenty-five cadets are planning to attend Cadet Summer Camp July 9 to 19 at Camp San Luis Obispo. The cadets have had an exceptionally active year, for the corps has had an un- surpassed number of Seniors enrolled for training.
