DII IDALE HIGH SCHOOL In 1882 Windsor Township, District No 6 established a tiny school on the site of the present high school The new school operated on a ten grade basis with three members on the school board Because of lack of facilities the primary and first three grades were taught in the old Baptist Church In 1929 the little school began operating twelve grades p esenting Dimondale with its first graduating class of eight memgers To date there have been a total of 539 graduates of In 1929 two more members were added to the school board A new addition was added to the school in this year to organize an agricultural system which proved unsuccessful, due to dissatisfaction among outlying districts In 1945 the old Adventist Church was moved on the school grounds to accomodate the first three grades BOARD OF EDUCATION President Glenn Bailey Secretary Gordon I Goodrich Treasurer Charles J Hutt Trustees Lyle Leisenring Candice Bramble 1 N I D. .sl bringing the total to five members. Mr Johnson, as a token of our appreciation for, you the 'Coach' and well known 'Teacher', of our High School Mr Johnson was Born November 10, 1908, in Heed Cit Michigan He had five brothers and sisters, one other be came a teacher He attended Grade School and High School at R995 3117! T 7 favorite so le 'l Can -3' it Was in the Junior Play, ' is 3 He .- Q : - ' e I : I : s A U, XA? , A. . 4 .nh SENIOR CLASS HISTORY FRESHNEN YEAR The class of l95c began high school in 1946 with thirty three students on the roll The first event of the class was our initiation, which was given by the kind Sonhomores I the evening the Sophomores took us on a hayrlde brought us back and put us t rough the 'fun house ' Later on they treated us to doughnuts and cider We were then officially Freshmen In the middle of the year we decided on a Bingo party It was our first big success Dona McPhe was elected class football queen and took second place for the title In May we put on a dance, named 'Spring Fever ' We had a swell turnout These were the events of the Freshmen class, which built up our conflndence Spring came and our Freshmen year was over SOPHOMORE YEAR In our Sophomore year the same crowd was back, with the loss of six former classmates and joining of three new ones The class officers were Vernie Ellsworth President Wanda Waterbury, Vice President Dona McPhee, Secretary, Gertrude ble Treasury The first great event of the year was the in itlatlon of the new Freshmen In the evening we took them on a hayride, then put them through the 'fun house ' There were no casualties and the evening proved successful Our first money ma ing event was a dance in the fall called 'Harvest Moon ' Patty Bleisch was our football queen and took third place When Spring rolled around we tried our hand at an a eur show and proved quite well School was soon out for the ye r Vacation d1dn't seem to last very lone, because in 1ust a short while were we all back to school JUNIOR YEAR At the begfnnirg of our Junior year we lost four more class mates and gained one September the Terryberry ring m n came and we ordered our rings They came iust before Thanksgiving Ever one vas very ole sed Next we snonsered a hard time dance, th t tl ned out very well Our Junior play, glv n April l, tit led 'Lindy Lou', we had a w nderful turnout The bigg st suo cess that we had was the Junior Senior Prom, which was held April 50 It was named 'April Showers' The Juniors hope we can start our Senior year as success fully as the n st years have been 18 . . .- . . We gave them a party in the evening. Florence Hull was elected as Sophomore Football Queen, and took third place. The first money making project was a dance after the Olivet game, which brought us a good profit. We are planning to have a St. Patr1ck's Dance, to be given Friday, March 17th. Vermontville will be in the Tri-C League next year. D1mondale's second try at the league championship was close failure, with Nashville winning by one point, 40 t0 39. Our first win in the league was over Bellevue. The boys put thru 46 points to Bronch's 40 points. Now comes the game with our old enemies, Potterville. With the help of L. Warren'e 29 points, we were able to beat them 49 to 44. The mighty Portland team beat Dimondale, on Portland's floor, by a score of 44 to 33. Portland is now lead ing in the league. The return game with Olivet was a repeat of the first, with Dlmondale winning 54 to 43. This was our 3rd win to 2 losses in the league. Bath, still has the strong team that they had last year. They beat the Bearcats by 19 points, 54 to 35. The Bearcat's added another win to their record beating DeWitt by the narrow margin of 3 points, 48 to 45. Springport came over to Dlmondale, to beat the Bearcats, 52 to 47. This was a non league game. Pottervllle came back in the return game, to beat Dimondale by a score of 54 to 43. In the second game with Portland,the Bearcat's weren't able to do any better. They lost with the score of 50 to 36. The Bearcat's did themselves proud, by beating the Vocational team, with the score of 58 to 52. Dimondale added another league win by beat- ing Bellevue 41 to 38. This was our last game. 37 R.
