Of the slx play-off games, two were one point victories, one was a two polnt victory, and one was a triple overtime victory in the regional finals. The srate games will long be remembered by Dlmmltt coaches, players, and fans. In the semi-flnal game against Diboll, the Cats were behind late in the game, but managed to pull out a 6664 victory, Then in the most ex- cltlng finish of any game Dimmitt has ever played, Phil King made a re- bound shot with one second an the clock that won the state championship for Dlmmltt over Llnden-Kildare 6059. Durlng the course of the season, many new records were set. After o double overtime victory against Estacado at the Caprack Tournament, the Bobcats became the first small school team to ever win the championship of the large-school division. Many individual records were among these, Kevin Cleveland was named MVP of all three tournaments - Hereford, Caprock, and Reese. He also broke the season and career scoring records for Dlmmltt with 912 points scored. Jeff Watts set a new season rebounding record with 392 rebounds. There were numerous honors presented throughout the season. Kevin received the following: was named to the Regional Tournament Team, the TABC Regional - 1st team, South Plains - Player of the Year, Panhandle Super Team - 1st team, All-State -- unanimous, TABC All State - 1st team, and the Sportswrlters All State - 1st team. Phil King was named to the Caprocls All-Tournament team, and also to the State All-Tournament team. Jeff Watts also did well. He was named ta the Regional All-Tournament team, the TABC All State - Ord team, the All South Plains - Grd team, and the Panhandle Super Team. Coach Cleveland was named Panhandle Super Team Coach ofthe Year. Named to the All'District team were Phil King, Kevin Cleveland, John Smlth, and Jeff Watts, Fermln Gonzales got honorable mention, All the hard work, sweat, and determination payed off.
