Ernest William Rider Mr. Rider was born in Craley, York County, Pennsylvania, September 26, 1911. He attended the public schools of York County and graduated from Dillsburg High School in 1928. He entered Shippensburg State Teacher's Col- lege and graduated from there in 1932. He taught in the public schools of Carroll Township, namely O'Hale's and State Road, and was teaching in the 5th'and 6th grades of the Dillsburg Borough Schools at the time of his death. He took an active interest in the work of the schools and community. Students held him in the highest regard and esteem, for to them he was an in- spiration and a help. Great indeed has been his work and host of people, young and old, will ever hold him in greaftful remembrance for the instructive and en- tertaining hours they were permitted to spend. Mr. Ernest Rider to whom this yearbook is dedicated served for many years as coach for the Dillsburg High School baseball team. However. his baseball activities were -not confined to the high school, but he also played on the town team up until the time of his death. It was perhaps appropriate, that a man with such an interest in baseball, should be fatally stricken while coaching a baseball game. 5
