omni- znmuf N BAND The Band has been a very active organization this year Oct ober tenth they attended the Winter Garden Fair held in Pearsall The director attended a Band Clinic in Waco and immediately follow ing his return a Band Clinic was held in Dilley Although only the Devine Band was able to attend the Clinic it was very profitable On March 7 1941 they entered the Winter Garden District Music Fest ival, winning a first rating in Concert Playing, third rating on Sight Reading and on Marching In this contest Edanna Howerton received a first rating and Irvin Hiler received a second rating on their clarinet solos The Band attended several other band meets and gave several concerts throughout the year Ile -f rpcf 2 'w we fi -nn ' 1- Q L 21 x - '-x A V ll S - Y 1 - um n 4 V- t- . 1 1 , L - , , I -' - - '. Therefore whenever possible the boys get farm experience by going to the farm to learn the Jobs and skills by actually doing them. The field trips for the boys do not consist of demonstrations by the instructor, but the boys actually do the work under his supervision.
