Dear Staff and Class: Congratulations! You accepted and conquered a mammoth undertaking. You have done a most appreciative job for all of us here at Dillard High. We thank you for such splendid eiforts. I was pleased to have been so closely associated with the work of the 1963 DILLARDITE. Be- cause of my close association, I am fully aware of the sincere devotion, bountiful spirit and burning enthusiasm that you put into your work on this publication. I hope that the rich mem- ories captured here will more than repay you in the years ahead as you reflect upon your many experiences at DHS. This publication should help you to recall what your teachers, your peers and your community tried to do for you. You must remember that you were a part of the chal- lenging ’60’s, the North Carolina program of Quality Education, the Dillard Gymnasium and the ’’revival of learning” at Dillard High. You must continue to give your best to the world. You should continue to share your richest experiences with others as you have done so very well in this annual. Remember - This is the best school that I know because I am doing so much to make it so. Affectionatelv yours, j j ’ y J b ' J. H. Wooten, Sr. Principal

s4 7'ic ute t Oun. Decvi 7eae6en4- Each year with outstreched arms you open hearts and souls to Tots still wondering, searching, seeking A goal to call their own. You scatter seeds and dreams you think you n’er again shall see. You harvest mortals and shelter every action - good, bad, promising, rewarding. You smile to share a love that spurs us on. At times discouraged, you count but lost the deeds you've done, the words you've said. You wish that we live, not merely drift; possess ideals that lift, wisdom that reigns, Learning that conquers ignorance and fears. We are grateful to you, Dear Teachers. Keep your standards high for you are building today for a free world tomorrow. We are weak, some strong, yet all determined to look with sorrowed pride toward that future Promised through the dreams you’ve stirred. We're Tots still wondering, searching, seeking a goal to call our own. THE CLASS OF '63 Muriel White Barbara Richardson
