0po'iecu ict The yearbook staff of the senior class feels that our class has developed qualities expected of young men and young women and the preparations needed to succeed in the age we now are facing. During our high school career, events have happened that will remain in our memories long after school days have ended and we wish to encourage the retainment of these memories. We leave our yearbook as a reference and reflection as we reminisce our high school days. Names and faces of friends will long be forgotten but THE DILLARDITES 57 will become our main source of memory - a source by which it may be possible to relive the wonderful days spent at Dillard High School. It is difficult to produce a book that every one would recognize as excellent because of the differences of ideals held by the class. We cannot capture all the excitement and pleasure we have witnessed and enjoyed and we cannot print an individual book of memories for every class member, therefore, we hope our readers will be considerate of the students who worked strenu- ously and tirelessly in this large task we have thus undertaken. This yearbook will reveal the highlights of the lives of about one hundred forty-two seniors, whose activities will be found herein - our clubs, our faculty, and the results of four years of training between the walls of Dillard High School. As a constant reminder - as a source of memory, information, and inspiration we so assign the following pages of THE DILLARDITES 57.

Goldsboro, North Carolina December 17, 1956 % To the Editor and Committee for the 1957 Yearbook Greetings: Happy are they whose ’annals’ are brief, ” one philosopher said. Another, ”He who cuts off twenty years of life cuts off just so many years of fearing death. ” I would say, Long Live the Senior Class ; for its bold venture in this tremendous undertaking. Long years from now, you will look back upon this effort and accomplishment with more delight than you might be able now to estimate. It will bring your classmates back into your memory as nothing else can. It will also encourage future classes to lift high the standard you have so well maintained. It will constantly bring Dillard history into new focuses which should make for greater accomplishment. So, please accept my heartiest congratulations for your wonderful production and my fond hope that each of you will find or make a place in the world worthy of the tradition of Dillard High School.
