Alice Oakly won first prize and Albert Pearsal won second. Elizabeth Arrington won the Popularity Contest and a trip to Washington, D. C. Then it was that our few faithful passengers realized that our last Vacation was nearer. This was the strangest vacation ever. Cn September 5th the passengers were more than anxious to board the train the last time. This time in the first class car. This yearfour class was combined, the first thing that looked us in the face was those History Exams by Mr. Brown. Vie won many honors this year, first our candidate in the Miss Dillard Contest was crowned Miss Dillard. We had the highest percentage in the Parents Teacher's meeting. XlValter Undrewood, Edmund Gordon, and Luther Galloway are the only stud- ents that Mr. Brown will allow to use the Memographing Machine. This year our senior play was given entitled New Fires . During our Senior year the triangular debate was held which was composed of 4 Seniors and Juniors. The Seniors were: Laura Holt, Albert Pearsall. Ida Viforrells, and James Williams. The debate was held in Raleigh, N. C., and Wilmington, N. C. 'The Dramatic Club under the directions of Miss Rosa Grav presented Nat Turner with James Williams having the Leading role. The play was given in Rocky Mount, where Dillard Hi School Dramatic Club won second place. The majority of the Glee Culb members are seniors with Essie Edwards and. Frances Oakley. James Williams, Oscar Wooten having leading parts. At this time there are seventy six passengers in number, the same people serving as officers, Misses Boney and Riggsbee our conductors. Yet we leave to those dear passengers following in our footsteps to take our empty seats the thought, that there is no more joy in taking a journey to senior land. even though sweat may be spent. and toes stubbed, in going from the fourth class car to the first class than in aimlessly catching our feet under the wheel that leads to failure. r Who's Who In The Senior Class By LAURA HOLT J Aldridge, Joseph-- Joe -Treasurer of Senior Class '37, Debating Club '36, Junior Play, Honor Student.
