Our football dance, our big success, We like to think it was the best, We will have these Moments to Remember Tho, students turn to adults, And the present disappears, The laughter we were glad to share Will echo thru the years. Our Senior year there was much to do, With caps and gowns and yearbooks, too, We will have these Moments to Remember. We yelled our best at every game, To cheer our players on to fame, We will have these Moments 'to Remember The Mardi Gras was mighty grand, It was our Winter Wonderland, We will have these Moments to Remember The Junior Prom, the talent shows, The play contests we won, The Christmas Dance and our class trips, Our trip to Washington. Our high school years brought happiness And laid the groundwork for success, We will have these Moments to Remember all liliswiiezsciaiied .iaciudifag iruloiie Qiltzrferriaszzzce for rec ANTONIA AGUAS Toni Coll e Grinnell gl Bxigey 5 '9 Erfergy angsistence sonqugi-lizll i i n a e a er b't' :Lvl h ' ivirig: awing 13 . me ing 15 Chemistry Club 33 Frei Clgb 35 Pramakgg 1, 35 river Education 45 Glee 6 Clu ,4. 32, gi, ii if Riff it write GILBERT AMARAL, JR. We entered Dighton High School for the first time at 7:45, September 5, 1952. With defiance in our bearings, but trembling in our limbs, we made it through the maze of corridors to rooms 14N and 14S. Our first step toward stabili zation was the election of our class officers who were Richard Kherlopian, President, Gilbert Amaral, Vice President, David Longton, Secretary, and Rose Marie Goulart, Treasurer. As Student Council representatives we chose Ruth Sears and Rosemary Borden. We made our contributions to the fo Ann otball team in the persons of Richard Kherlopian, Ellis Strange, James Wallace, and Weston Sta We had as cheerleader, Libby Sherman. fford. Much to our horror, we were informed that we were to sponsor a dance. Despite our lack Our- 'FW an . F Kept of knowledge in this field, our first dance was a great success. Basketball season was upon us and to our great surprise and pleasure William Duarte made the Varsity. Our next achievement was first place in the magazine drive. By now our treasury was be- ginning to grow. For Mardi Gras representatives we chose Wes- ton Stafford and Sandra Copeland. Our next big undertaking was a play to be presented be- fore the school in assembly. Before we knew it finals were upon us, but not too soon were they over, along with our Freshman year. Now we were looking forward to our second year at Dighton High School. Christmas Dance, the play contest d Magazine drive us all so busy. Football season found us cheering for our representatives who were Ellis Strange, David Clark, Gilbert Amaral, David Longton, Richard Ferreira, Richard Kherlopian and William Duarte. This was the year we had the most successful football dance that Dighton High School had ever seen. Our treasury was growing by leaps and bounds. For our Mardi Gras representatives we chose Clifford Wood and Lorraine Motta, who rode in on the prize winning float. Before we knew it we were at our Junior Q lp e':f:5A.' In our last year at Dighton High school we got right down to business by electing Clifford Wood, President, Wilma Rose, Vice President, Dolores Silva, Treasurer, and Elaine Broadbent, Secretary. As our Student Council representa- tives we chose Eugenia Pontes and Gilbert Am- aral. Clifford Wood was elected President of the Student Council this year. Our first big project was our yearbook which seemed to be a never ending task, but under the capable leadership of Clifford Wood, Editor, Wilma Rose and Judith Atwood, Co-Editors, we think we have managed to complete this task in a satisfactory manner. The Christmas card sale, the magazine drive and the paper drive, all helped to make our treasury go over the top. The honor of being King of the Mardi Gras was given to Gilbert Amaral, and our lovely Queen was Elaine Broadbent. William Duarte won honor and glory on the basketball court for our class as well as for the school by breaking six Narry League records. Ellis Strange and Richard Ferreira, co-cap- tains of the football team this year, were backed up by Richard Kherlopian, Weston Stafford, William Duarte, William Benevides, David Longton, David Clark, Gilbert Amaral, David Prom, a paradise of Moonlight and Roses, a lot of work but a lot of fun, too. Honor Society members who brought added prestige to our class were Nancy Cornell, James Rose, Sandra Copeland, Dolores Silva, Rose- mary Borden, Wilma Rose, Pauline Medeiros, Marion Carpenter, Clifford Wood, and Joan DeMoranville. We ended our Junior year with Class Day when Rosemary Borden and Joan DeMoranville brought greater honor to our class by receiving the Chase, French, and D.A.R. History awards respectively. Whew! Never thought we'd make it. Studies behind us, welre Seniors at last. And after graduation we'll go our separate ways. To pursue our futures so brilliant and vast. Carvalho, Dennis Carvalho, and Manager Ken- neth Rose. Elaine Broadbent, captain of the cheerleaders, was assisted by Shi1'ley Horton and Natalie Dulak. We were very proud of them. We chose Elaine Broadbent as our D.A.R. representative, and Clifford Wood as our Good Government Day representative. At last February 20, Washington bound. What a shame that it was over so soon. We all had such a wonderful time. Now preparations for the play contest were underway. As usual We displayed a great show of acting ability. Next came the talent assembly. Boy, what hidden talent we uncovered. With the arrival of our last Junior Prom, graduation rehearsals and selection of gradu- ation speakers, Clifford Wood and Sandra Cope- land, we realized with a pang of remorse that our high school days would soon be over and each of us would go our separate ways. We will never forget the wonderful fun We have had at Dighton High School. We thank our beloved friend and advisor, Mrs. Smith, and we also thank the teachers who have helped so much in order that we get ahead in the world.
