The Juniors were well represented on the football team. We were really proud of having John Allen elected as one of the Co-captains. The maiorettes, cheerleaders, and band did a good iob in providing spirit for the games. Our football dance was a huge success and we all had a good time. Diane Boucher did a fine job as Assistant Manager for the Magazine Drive, and we took top place in the drive. The money surely came in handy. Finally we received our class rings. We really felt like upperclassmen now. For a few days we showed them to everyone we saw. The gold door on the black onyx really looked smart. As underclassmen we had heard a lot-about the Honor Society. We were very happy when thirteen of our class members were elected to this group. With the beginning of activities, we found Barbara Jose chosen as Beacon Editor. Soon it was time for basketball. Dave Phillips and Sam Andrade were elected Co-captains. We had a good time supporting both the girls' and boys' games. The Eighth Annual Speech Contest was held and the winner was none other than our class president, William Melesky. Along came the annual Mardi Gras, put on by the French Club. Lorraine Costa and Richard Andrade made a lovely couple as our Junior attendants. Boy, were we pleased when we beat the Seniors in the Play Contest. We surely had mad rehearsals in practicing Mad Breakfast. Our one big dance, the Junior Prom, was soon upon us. The Night club setting and New York skyline provided a truly different theme. Class Day during our Junior year will always be a wonderful memory. We were next door to being Seniors! Joanne Smith and William Melesky received honors that day. Soon we would be Seniors! BACK TO WORK lN 54 MONEY, MONEY, MORE AND MORE! Our first iob in our Senior year was to choose capable leaders for the class. We elected Wallace Wood, President, Bob Silvia, Vice President, Alberta Motta, Secretary, and Liz Torres, Treasurer. For Student Council Joanne Smith and William Melesky were chosen. Because money was needed, we plunged headlong into a paper drive and a Christmas card campaign, the latter being handled by Mary Jane Mello. These proiects, along with a football dance, added a neat sum to our treasury. When the time for sports came, we were very well represented. Football season saw Allen Hay, and Bob Sherman as co-captains. The coveted award of sweaters was given to Guire Babbit, Sam Andrade, Dave Phillips, Maynard Horton, Bob Silvia, Peter Ouellette, Hartley Gurney, and, of course, Allen and Bob. Basketball season came, and Guire Babbit and Dave Phillips, Lorraine Costa and Joyce Soares were the co-captains for the boys' and girls' teams. Other Senior members were Dave French, Sam Andrade, Bob Silvia for the boys, and Jean Ashley and Roberta Hartshorn for the girls. Joyce Soares was chosen as captain of the cheerleaders. Four other Senior girls were also on the squad. Dances seemed to come along quickly, and before we knew it, the Mardi Gras had arrived. Richard Andrade and Joyce Soares reigned as king and queen over the gala affair. The floats added a good deal to the beauty of the dance. The addition of three more members to the Honor Society boosted our total to sixteen. Robert Silvia was chosen as Good Government Day representative. Jean Ashley and Dave French were selected to participate in the New England Band in Rutland, Vermont. Joanne Smith, in addition to being chosen as our D. A. R. representative, was also chosen as co- editor of the yearbook along with Barbara Jose. Mr. Scanlon did a wonderful iob as year- book advisor. The Washington trip turned out to be a wonderful one for all. We enioyed ourselves, plagued our chaperones, and came home to make up for the sleep we lost during our four days. Barbara Jose, William Melesky, and Wallace Wood were chosen as graduation speakers. At the close of the writing of this history, we find ourselves looking forward to class day, graduation, and the finalplocking at the iourney's end. A
