LED Administrators Obtain Recognition From Being Named USA Model School The odminisrrarors of Louis E Oeruff High School kepr rhe school running smoorhly Eoch day en counrered new responsibiliries, which affected rhe students os well os rhe staff. Mr Meilinger, with rhe help of Ms Holod ond Mr Porks, was able to moinroin rhe model'' school that we ore. Mr Meilinger thought rhe school year starred with great cooperation from oil dosses. He mode himself avoiloble to help and or rak to ony sru dent about whatever problems there were. Ms Holod's duties were nor only helping Mr. Meilinger and rhe student body, bur also consisted of extra curricular activities. These activities indud ed Powder Puff, Student Forum, The Council of Youth ond many more Ms. Holod stored. Every day hod new challenges, ond was more exoring than rhe previous day. With rhts being Mr Porks eighth year as Dieruff's disciplinarian, he felt that rhe school year went rather well The students seemed more serious obout their education, stored Mr Porks. 15

Aside from those which were required, such as English I. II, III, IVA and IVB, elective courses could have been token also Interested students chose courses such as Theatre Arrs I and II, Shake- speare. Mythology, College Skills. Pub- lic Speoking, Study Skills, Media Print I and II, and Journalism,, Students ore required to rake four years of English, but the electives ore optional Students sometimes elect a class that cannot be firred into their schedules They have on option of raking that class during a zero period rhat runs from 7 30 to 615 each morning If a certain number of stu- dents do not elect a course, it is no longer offered for that year Electives taken are credited and noted on transcripts
