'OF WHAT IS PAST, OR PASSING, OR TO COME' Due to a decrease in student enrollment in the 1982-83 school term, Dieruff will have an addition of a freshman class along with the regular sophomore, junior, and sen- ior classes. The transition should be easier for these stu- dents since the' choice of curriculum of study for their career starts in the freshman year. The problems of com- ing to a new school and trying to pick up where the various junior high teachers left off will be alleviated to allow the students to acyust and to become acquainted with Dieruff's many different career preparatory courses more quickly. Besides the educational factor involved, the freshman will be placed in a more mature environment. The many responsibilities that would be placed on them will contri- bute to their growth as individuals. Along with these obligations come the students' rights. to participate in the many activities and clubs Dieruff has to offer. Getting involved and interacting with other students is one way students learn from each other that friendship is an impor- tant part of growing up. The school schedule will not change too much with the freshman class coming. There will still be those long seven periods of labor and those short lunch periods to relax. The school itself will be extended to the area formerly occupied by the Allentown East Branch Library will not be any major changes except maybe the halls may seem a little smaller and the noise level may seem higher. The school will become recognized for its added talent with the freshman. For all the graduating seniors, the Dieruff they knew will be gone. Arriving at Dieruff as all-knowing sopho- mares, struggling through the toughest year in high school as juniors, and then finally reaching the supreme status of a senior will only be but memories. The seniors of the Class of '82 are sad to see their era of Dieruff end, but wish to give some advice to the new freshman class. The high school years are the happiest ones in any students school career, and if students sup- port the Husky Blue 6 Gray, they will have gained the pride that Louis E. Dieruff High School has to offer. The graduating senior class of 1982 at Louis E. Dieruff High School will end the era of the traditional three year high school in the A.5.D. Dieruff seniors remember: the championship football 6 basketball teams . . . Mr. Sardo . . . the great assemblies . . . the crowded hallways . . . the swingin' dances . . . the cafeteria studyhalls . . . finally reaching high school and becoming a senior . . . the many friends made . . . having to come to school when it was snowing , . . the great times in between classes the Dieruff-Allen rivalry . . . the many great times shared with friends and proud of off' li ft , G3 ii ny' i- I Q61 'I .- jj 'ff,'99 3 Ki? l62,,R 'V X, var 'm'h 1 'H in f , QW!!
