Student life Then . . . Student life on the campus has not changed too much over the years. There is always something to do or join if you want to. The first national sorority on campus was Alpha Sigma Alpha, chartered on May 17, 1941. It was on May I, 1964 when Tau Kappa Epsilon came to the DSC campus. It was joined by Theta Chi on May 7, 1966. The other social sorority on campus, Della Zeta, was established in April 16, 1966. Many other organizations followed that still exist to this day. Historical excerpts were taken from the book: “The Story of Dickinson State, A History of Dickin- son State College-1918-1968. This book was written by Osbourne T. Belsheim and published in North Dakota. Special thanks go out to Dr. Belsheim. An interesting excerpt that I would like to share appeared in the book. A dance advertised as a “Normal School Dance” was to be held at the Armory. The amusing anecdote was that it stated: “There are 200 girls who want to have a good time. Do your bit.” 14
