Administration and Faculty Then . . . On July I, 1963, the institution officially became Dickinson State College. A special program was held in May Hall, after which the participants posed for a picture in front of the new sign. Left to right: Dickinson Sup. of Schools Alem L. Hagen, Board of Higher Education Member John Conrad, President Emeritus Charles E. Scott, President O.A. DeLong, (also pic- tured below). State Senator William R. Reichert, Dickinson Mayor George Lctvin, and Public Relations Director O.T. Bclshcim. Through the years, Dickinson State College has seen the administrations of five outstanding past Presidents. They were: Samuel T. May (1918-1929), Conrad L. Kjcrstad (1929- 1936), H. Otto Pippin (1936-1959), Oscar A. DeLong (1959- 1969), and R. Cameron Gillund (1969-1977). 10

Dickinson Stale College has seen many faces. In the upper left hand corner: R. Cameron Gillund, Presi- dent Emeritus, talks with a student. Above: Morris E. Martin, former wrestling coach and Assistant Pro- fessor of Physical Education, keeps a close eye on one of his students. At the left is John C. Thompson, former Chairman of Division of Science and Math. He passed away several years ago. Recently, the Auditorium in Murphy Hall was dedicated to him. 11
