PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE In view of the fact that I will be concluding my Presidency at Dickinson State College at the end of June 1977, I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the staff and adviser of the Prairie Smoke. I have thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the privilege of associating with the students, past and present, of this great institution. In these eight years at the helm, my attachment to this college has grown each year. Obviously, I will have a feeling of sadness, but more importantly, I will have the joys of fond memories. In my inaugural address I said I came to D.S.C. with the capacity to dream dreams — Some have become realities, some not. I said, then, and I say it again, the continued improvement of human relationships within this institution is the first order of business. Self-respect and mutual respect between each of us are vital if effective learning is to take place. I like to believe this has occurred. I shall always cherish and remember the many acts of courtesy, respect and kindness shown my wife and me by the students. The future of Dickinson State College, in the long run, rests in the hands of young people. We must place our hope in young people for an enduring future. It has been my great honor and privilege to have served you as President. May God grant all of you the opportunities for success. R. C. Gillund President President R. C.
