President Gillund Dickinson Stale College Students - Past, Present and Future. The 1976 yearbook takes a special significance during this Bi- centennial year. An account of the history of the college is being presented in this year's Prairie Smoke. Dickinson State College is the youngest of the four-year state colleges, but its inception, ma- turity, and development are of great importance. Dickinson State College is great because its students, faculty, staff and alumni have made it such. The continual contact with former students reminds one of why the college enjoys success. The former students throughout the years have distinguished them- selves in education, business and countless other fields of endeavor. All of them would attribute, at least part, of their success to the experiences gained at Dickinson State College. A distinguishing feature of Dickinson State College is its size. This affords those associated with the college the opportunity to know and work closely with each other in the classroom setting and the many other activities available at the college. I wish to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to those involved in student publications, and in this instance, the Prairie Smoke staff for helping us tell the story of Dickinson State College. R.C. Gillund President President R. C. Gillund State Board of Higher Education Seated (L to R): Mrs. lames L. Grahl, Bismarck. Mrs. E. G. Clapp, Fargo. Standing: Richard H. McGee, Minot, Kenneth E.
