The Young Democrats, headed by President Betsey Harris, are work- ing to stimulate young people on campus to have an interest in government affairs and to perpetu- ate the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party. Young Democrats arc helping local and state can- didates in the Democratic campaign; Democratic headquarters are located at Crystal Sunrise, West Villard. Members of the organization are Vickie Kremers, Neola Steen, Sharon Kearnes, Linda Rush, Betsey Harris, and Mark Greenwood. HAGEN FOR OFFICE Larry Auch Cheryl Aucn Cheryl Badinger Janice Barnhart Waldo Hagen, a 24 year old senior at DSC, ran as a Demo- cratic candidate lor the North Dakota House of Representa- tives from District 37 because, as he stated, “everyone should get involved.” He felt his de- gree of involvement would be to do as much as possible to change the current plan- ning for the state. Waldo feels the state needs industry, but he also holds a concern for ecology. Waldo grew up on a farm near New Town and af- ter graduating from high school joined the service; he earned the silver star in Vietnam. He is a speech major and a political science minor.
