gbecbcafion We respectfully dedicate the l96O edition of the Prairie Smoke to Dr. Arthur C. Selke who has worked to further the interests of the college and the students attending it. His remembering names and faces ot former students is one of his outstanding characteristics. Dr. Arthur C. Selke, who is a member of a family that has done much to meet the educational needs ot the Midwest area, has been at Dickinson State Teachers College for thirty-three years. He came to the Dickinson college from the Black Hills Teachers College at Spearfish, South Dakota in l927. He received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota. He has done additional graduate study at the University of Chicago, the University of Heidelberg, and the School of Economics, Mannheim, Germany. Dr. Selke is chairman of the Social Science Division and was a member of the Administrative Council at the college for many years. During this past year he has served on the Curriculum Council. He has been active in many of the campus organizations and college committees. The college faculty and the State Board of Higher Education recommended that the new men's residence hall be named Selke Hall. Dr. Selke will be retiring this year after many years in teaching.
