14 In Memoriam I Edgar I King 1913-1977 Dean King served as dean of Dickinson School of Law from October, 1974 until his death on September 15, 1977. Prior to assuming his po- sition as fifth dean of the law school, he held the positions of professor and assistant dean. He was the first occupant of the John Edward Fow- ler Memorial Distinguished Professorship. Dean King was born in Logan, Kansas, and obtained both his Under- graduate and law degrees from the University of Kansas. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Temple University in 1959. A World War II veteran, Dean King was a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Cumberland County Bar Associations, as well as the American Law Institute. He was also an active member of the Order of the C011? and Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. Dean King gave unselfishly of his time and talent to all who came in contact with him. He will be remembered as both a gentleman and a scholar.
