Z Z The Alumni Association of this institution is of a com- Z paratively recent origin, though in 1897, 91'1C.m0f1'fh after Fm Z Z appeal for the formation of such an institution, 'an Associa- Z tion was formed. The appeal appeared in the first issue of the Forum. The same issue tells of the formation of this Z body. However it was short-lived for all trace of that ore ganization was lost, and the greater the body of the alumni grewzb the more apparent the need of a permanent associa- Z tion ecame. Z . Z No further attempt to form such a society was made un- til 1918, at the time when the new building was dedicated. Z A spirit of cooperation is the greatest known medium for creating the tie that binds. The alumni of this school were Z up to this time supposedly loyal enough, but individually Z Z rather than collectively. However the complete success of the drive for the present building proved to every one that an organized body was only lacking in name, for the alumni Z acted as one body in the subscription. Consequently, when Z they gathered to dedicate that which they gave, the forma- tion of an actual body was a foregone conclusion. It was formed immediately after the dedication of the Z building and the following were elected: President, Hon. John Z W. Kephart, '94, Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsyl- vania. Vice President, Hon. Robert Hayes Smith, '01. Sec- Z retary and Treasurer, Joseph P. McKeehan, '02, ' . . . Z The body set its annual meeting on the second Friday Z of August. 'In 1923 the date was changed to commence- ment week. . That the Association has not rested upon past Z labors is evidenced by the lamp in the portico of the Law Z School which was the result of the meeting of 1922. Z , , , f The present student body 1S proud, as well it might be, Z of the fruits of this body's labors, which have resulted not Z only in a .new building, but in a constant growth of the Z School, which lends a rosy aspect to the future.
