Principalfs Mfissage It gives me a sincere pleasure to congratulate all Junior High students on the success you have had in school this year. ln the future, when you recall what school was like through the pictures and captions in this annual, I hope you can remember this year as one of the happiest and most rewarding of your life. I also hope you will regard your present and future education as one of the most valuable things you can ever acquire. Time and effort used to get an education might be compared to money put into a business investment, but there is one main difference in the two. With an invest- ment in education there is never any danger of its losing its value or going out of date. On the contrary each year in our present age and state of world development education becomes increasingly more important for everyone. Scientists and edu- cators tell us that man's knowledge is advancing at an astonishingly fast rate-that many of the things which will be commonplace in your lives have not yet been invented and in some cases not yet imagined. Yes, we live in a very technically complex age of advancement. Vast knowledge and skill are required to accomplish man's undertakings. Education is essential for everyone. Work requires it and also the needs and challenges of domestic govern- ment and international diplomacy. Your education is an investment or treasure which will be valuable all your life. It is also a treasure which you will constantly increase, for the curious mind never ceases to learn and to tackle new problems. A good education will certainly mean a higher standard of living for you since it has been shown that a person's earning power is in relation to his education. But education will mean much more to you than material things, and herein lies the real beauty of education. lt has its own reward, for there is a true pleasure in learning and knowing, And it is a pleasure which can last over an entire lifetime. Every new phase of knowledge mastered expands your curiosity and opens up new avenues to further exploration. lt is my sincere hope that all of our students are finding this true pleasure that education has to offer and will pursue its challenges throughout life with interest and excitement. W. A. Hofheinz
