JANUARY VALEDICTORIAN FLORENCE HEGEWALD Average 90.6Ck Miss Florence C. Hegewald, a native of jersey City, first attended Public School No. 11. After graduation, she enrolled in a business school, and upon completion of her course, secured employment as a secretary. Wishing to pursue her studies further, she decided upon an Academic course at Dickinson Accredited Evening High School, where she completed her High School education in four years. After the death of her mother she found it necessary to assume the care of the home, but this did not hinder her from maintaining a high average while busy with the many household duties. She found time, also, to become an active member of the Debating Society and the German Club serving as secretary for the latter. Her cooperation with the faculty and her serious demeanor revealed her perseverance and sincerity. The diligence with which she worked, together with a pleasant disposition, exemplified a serene character by which she won many friends. Reading is her hobby, in which she finds mental stimulus as well as relaxation. Not content to terminate her studies at this point, Miss Hegewald is enter- ing Christ Hospital in September to take up nursing. Her many friends, who remember her for her quiet dignity and firm purpose, wish her success in this line undertaking. Thirty-five
