Lowenstein fcoachj, Ferdinand, Tamburini, Miller The call for candidates, for the basketball team last November, appeared very promising as some forty men turned out in the early practice sessions. It was without the services of any veterans that Coach Lowenstein had to mould a quintet. The squad was cut to twenty men, all of whom deserve a great deal of credit for their loyalty and perseverance, even though they did not go through an undefeated season. In spite of disappointing obstacles the Varsity came through for an even break in their ten games. p,A.jq, Oppo- D.A.1'I. Oppo- H.S. Record of 19515-6 nents ILS. Falvey, ,31 as chairlady. This year's Sail will be held Wednesday evening, july 15th. On August 15th, 1935, they held their Annual Bus Ride to Monterey Park, Monterey, New York. Robert Gracey '34 was chairman. A Dramatic Society was formed early in September and Mr. Couzens, a member of the Faculty, kindly offered his services as Coach. The Society presented two one-act plays The Red Lamp and Predicaments both of which were presented before large school audiences on separate occasions. The Alumni Basketball team under the coaching of Michael Lamont '34 had a most successful season. Playing the leading teams of the Metropolitan area, they won forty games and lost six. They climaxed their season by defeat- ing a strong Faculty team before a record crowd in the new Gymnasium. The biggest event of the past year was the First Annual Winter Ball, held in the main Ballroom of thejersey City Elks' Club, on Saturday evening, February 15th, 1936, with music provided by Lou' Lockett's Steamship Nor- mandie Orchestra. Once more David Gladstone '31 arranged a series of lectures. This series was given by Dr. W. Glenn of New York University on the subject of Psychology. Another interesting lecture 'Science and Crimei' was given by Dr. A. O. Gettler of New York University. Dr. Gettler is the leading toxicologist of the New York Medical Examiners' Office. Walter T. Wygant '33 also arranged lectures by Father Rankin of Hudson College Faculty. All of these lectures were well attended by Alumni, undergraduates and the public. One Hmnired Tzvenly-lufo
