IUNE VALEDICTORIAN MARIE JACH Average 91.1 C11 Marie jach was born in North Bergen, N. J., in 1911, and graduated from Washington School No. 8 in 1925 with an average of 92.2. Later she attended Richmond Business College at night and was able to obtain a position as teacher in 1929. Wishing to continue her educafign, she entered D.A.E.H.S. in September, 1931. During her second term, shew on a contest sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution for the best essay on the Life of George Washington. Although she has Cgmplete responsibility of the home, she has been able to maintain a high scholastic standing and has found time for many extra-curricular activities. She was secretary of the Literary Club and served as Vice-President of the Deutsch Verein. She was a member of the History Club and a representative of the General Organization. She also worked on the Prom Committee for the june Senior Class and was a member of the Owl Stall. Her fine character and cooperation have been a joy to the faculty while her sincerity and power of understanding are shown by her splendid record. She expects to enter Englewood Hospital in September to take up nursing. The members of the Facutly, Senior Class and the students wish her success in this great human service. Tlairly-six H S -

JANUARY VALEDICTORIAN FLORENCE HEGEWALD Average 90.6W Miss Florence C. Hegewald, a native of Iersey City, first attended Public School No. 11. After graduation, she enrolled in a business school, and upon completion of her course, secured employment as a secretary. Wishing to pursue her studies further, she decided upon an Academic course at Dickinson Accredited Evening High School, where she completed her High School education in four years. After the death of her mother she found it necessary to assume the care .of the home, but this did! not hinder her from maintaining a high average while busy with the many household duties. She found time, also, to become an active member of the Debating Society and the German Club serving as secretary for the latter. Her cooperation with the faculty and her serious demeanor revealed her perseverance and sincerity. The diligence with which she worked, together with a pleasant disposition, exemplified a serene character by which she won many friends. Reading is her hobby, in which she finds mental stimulus as well as relaxation. Not content to terminate her studies at this point, Miss Hegewald is enter- ing Christ Hospital in September to take up nursing.
