SEN IORS ADVICE TO THEIR FELLOW SCHOOLMATES In behalf of the seniors I write the following: When a student has become a senior of high school; he will probably have more serious thoughts than he has had in any other school year. He comes to the conclusion that life isn’t all play. The lazy, shiftless student has a dull outlook on the future, while the alert, brilliant student smiles at it; for he has prepared himself for it. We don’t have to guess twice who will be our future leaders. How bad a senior must feel when he starts looking back over all the years he has spent in school, and sees nothing that he has gained. Oh,” he groans, why did I idle through my school work?” Idleness is not only unfair to our parents, the county, and the state; most of all, it is unfair to yourself. Let’s stop and think for a minute on this question: Why are our parents sending us to school, anyway? Two of the most important reasons are the following: ( 1 ) They want you to have the opportunities of which they were deprived in their youth; (2) They want you to live just as happy a life as it would be possible for you to live. Don ' t let them down. Statistics show that the average age of an American is sixty- four years. Most students who go to high school graduate between the ages of seventeen and nineteen. If you have wasted -all these years, you will have wasted nearly one-third of your life. Life is so so short and full of troubles the best we make of it, so who wants to make the worst out of the best? You may think, Well, I will do better when I start out on my own. Why, cheating on a test is no indication that I will really cheat people.” You can quickly see that this student did not realize that he had already cheated someone — himself. Just remember Honesty is the best policy, and stick to it. A professor in college once said the brain is used as a last resort. Let’s put that brain to work while it is still young; don’t wait until tomorrow to start preparing yourself for a bright future; now is the time. Refrain from taking up the bad habits for they will follow you to your grave. We have written this for the benefit of all whom it may concern, and it is our greatest wish that someone will profit by it. CLASS EDITOR
