Has it really been four years since 100 green, timid freshmen marched through the swinging doors of Dickenson emorial High School and gazed up the road that they must travel to reach the coveted height of a Senior, The road looked long indeed and filled with obstacles. But they have been overcome. During our freshman and sophomore years we remained more or less in the background of the school life. By the end of our sophomore year we had lost most of our former shyness and began to take our rightful place in the school activities. And then we were Juniors. The happenings of this year would be too numerous to relate. Some of the most outstanding ones were the losing of our principle, Mr. J. M. Skeen, and the gaining of Mr. W. M. Weddle, the tremendous success of the Jun-j ior play, the day we placed our class rings on trembling fing- f ers, and the Junior-Senior Banquet. Of course, none of us will ever forget that it was on December 7, of this year that our nation became engaged in the greatest war of all time. I can only give the highlights of our Senior year, hoping that you can remember all the small incidents that have added so much to the enjoyment of our school life. We were glad to ve eleven pupils from Pound, Va. added to our small group, which will make a total of 48 students to receive diplomas. The Senior class tackled the difficult job of editing an ' annual with Mr. Weddle as sponsor. Then came the Junior-Senioi Banquet and numerous other things. I would like to close this class history with an account of some remarkable accomplishments that would be remembered and referred to by future classes at D. M. H. S. , but that is impossible, because we have made no remarkable accomplishments, We are just the Senior class of 1943 that will soon be for- otten. That is, it will be forgotten by everyone except our- selves We will remember all those years at D. M. H. and all the memories we have left behind. Yes, will still be remembering after many yearsj have come and gone, because we know that they | jean never be lived over. 15
