1961 Class Histor Four years ago about thirty-five students ventured upon the steps of Dibrell High School. Nearly everyone was frightened about facing the change of a new life to a more educational system known as high school. A few faces were new to us at first. We didn't know which way to turn, but we soon found our way around with help from teachers and upperclassmen. We were given a name, Freshmen, and we became a part of the life of the school. At first some often wished that they had never been found, but, before the year was over, we became throughly at home in our new surroundings. After being taught our ABC's in elementary school, we took on a new and exciting subiect known as Algebra. When the time was drawing near, and we had iust begun to learn to conquer the difficult tasks we had to give up our name and accept a new one, Sophomores, the second step of the ladder in learning. ln our second year at Dibrell we began to realize that we had different organizations and clubs of which we could be members, such as: Beta Club, fif you met the requirementsl, F.F.A. , and H. T. C. The sophomore year found us all working and trying to do our part in order to receive a seat among the best. Before we knew, we had another promotion 'to a higher degree. We became known as Juniors, the third step of the ladder. Several things happened in this school year, 59-60, ordering class rings, and invitations for the following year which was drawing close to an end. The Junior Play revealed that we had actors and actresses in our class and even some might become real out in life. Now, we have come to the last and final step at Dear Old Alma Mater, which is the fourth step of the ladder. From the four years that we have spent at Dibrell, we have accomplished many lessons, several from the hard way, but from these lessons we have grown stronger in heart and mind. The class of '61 has set a record for the following classes to challenge. We hope that the class of 61 is one that fellow students, teachers, citizens of the Dibrell Community, and anyone else that you can turn to can say, this is one of the best classes that has ever graduated from Dibrell. But at the end of this hard fought battle, we know what we do today, determines what we shall be tomorrow. Speaking in behalf of the class of '61, we all want to thank God for giving us a land of opportunity, a land of plenty, and a place where we can live with one accord and be as one in the sight of God. I hope that our class motto, We Regret That We Have But One School Life To Live, will hold true for years to come. Class Historian Paul L. Hildreth

Class Prophecy On the night of September B, l98l , a soft lisping wind blew silently over the small peaceful village of Dibrell. Inside the schoolhouse 3l voices rose, as they sang the last bars of the Alma Mater. As the music died away, an unidentified voice said, Was it only 20 years ago that. Her voice trailed off as memories winged their way back through the years to the warm spring night when they had graduated. Someone stirred, and immediately the room was full of chatter. Everyone wanted to find out about every- one else. The men swarmed around a distinguished looking man who was none other than Dr. Larry Gribble, owner of the famous walking horse, Moon Glow. Herman Boren, President of the First Drive-In Bank, was answering questions a mile a minute because he could add figures in a flash. The intelligent looking gentleman in the blue suit is Paul Hildreth, Professor of Mathematics at Harvard. Dortha Bain, famous for her skill of interior decorations, had made the auditorium quite a festive place. Flowers peeked out shyly in some places then burst out boldly in others. Places at the banquet table were deco- rated according to their owner's occupation. General Morris Adcock's napkin was solemnly pinned with a Purple Heart. Geneva Bond, who was famous for her fine original recipes, was awarded a napkin containing the menu for the banquet which she planned. Three cheers went up as the tall slim pro-basketball player, Larry Cope, took his place at the table. Larry's pat of butter had been skillfully molded into a golden-colored basketball by Betty West, noted for her art in food preparation. But, wait! Whose place is this? In the center stands an African Woman. No, there has not been a mistake. Linda Gunter, who dedicated her life to these people through her work as a biologist, is being seated there. The chic looking young lady to my right is Brenda Duke, secretary for the President. She is know for her accuracy and efficiency. On my left Janie Moore, well-known attorney, and Wayne Simerly, who has served the people faithfully as an FBI agent, are engrossed in discussing the prospects in space. Brenda Parkhurst, Deane Fuson, and Mary Ann Parker are elementary teachers in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Colorado respectively. They can't agree on who has the best class, but they all agree that it is marvelous work. An original fashion designer, Kathleen Foster, is discussing the latest trends with Carole Greene, a greatly admired person for her women's column in the Eagle Eye Magazine. Sitting next to her is Learon Mullican, Learon was chosen as TV's sweetest sweetheart. That deep voice no doubt belongs to Leard Mullican, who is known for his elegant bass. Curlene Preston and Billie D. Christian are telling each other about their families. Curlene is a leader of the PTA and the mother of 2 lovely girls. Billie Dean is the proud mother of a boy and a girl. Billy Flanders, a wealthy cattle owner, is busy explaining to Lena Allison, an attractive model, why cattle are important to our nation. Mildred McCormack, home economist, and Donna Jones, owner of the Nu- Look Saloon in California, are exchanging ideas of fashions. Did I see something move over there? Yes, I did see something. John Anderson, an extremely famous artist, was swiftly sketching the complete affair. He even thought to include himself, sitting in the corner with a pad in his hand. Glenn Gill and Peggy Haley seemed to be enioying themselves. Glenn is an electrician, and Peggy is a journalist. When the banquet was over, everyone gathered around the piano. Sarah Lynne Ramsey, a skillful pianist, joined with Clarkie Keathley, well-known guitar player, to provide us with music. Yes, those were the good old days, but if I could switch places, I would not. I am content to be an English teacher. The reunion is over, but everyone lingers to say good-bye. Tomorrow we will go back to our families, our jobs, and our homes. Tonight will be one of our many happy memories. Linda Faye Hendrix
