gl.. , , , ..,..., ..,,s..M:A.,.:,- .,, A.. ey! It's Party Time Thank God It's Friday! This was a common saying among the students of DH-J. They were ready to get out of school and head on down to the local meeting spot or the hottest party being planned for that weekend. Taking a day off didn't always mean partying around on the week- end. To some people, it meant tak- ing a breather from class ltransla- tion: SKIPPINGD Although some didn't get caught, others did and paid a pretty steep price for their mistakes. Skipping wasn't a very big issue this year, maybe because of the hall monitor that patrolled the halls as thoroughly as possible, but for most partying was the BIGGEST issue around. Partying like all good things at DH-J was traditional, and everyone fought to keep it that way. TOP RIGHT: Uninvited guest Jonetta Gon- zalez sponges a ride to the party from Lisa Cooper. MIDDLE RIGHT: Joe Vedia won- ders how long he can hide the fact that all 28 Student Life he's drinking is HiC. BOTTOM LEFT' Er- mine Ybarra, Sherry Gamble, and Richard Saenz act like they're drinking the hard stuff, but it's really milk substituted by their moms. BOTTOM RIGHT: Charles Carr parties in class as well as out.

'la est-Taking Tips Oh, man! Did you say test? Quick! What's the test over? On the last day of each week, the most whispered phrases at DH-J didn't ruin anyone's rep or hurt anyone's feelings. Indeed, on Fridays at DH- J, the most important gossip we had to pass involved tests. What's on the test? Do you remember the questions? Studying for tests was the most important homework we did. It was the ONLY homework that some of us did. But because we didn't know everything there was to know about test-taking, we often looked to the know-it-alls for advice - for tips. Of course, teachers knew ever- ything there was to know about tests and tips, so they realized that we tipped off those friends who were scheduled to take tests late in the day. That's why they gave dif- ferent tests each period. lt seems that no matter what we did, we got fried. If we blew off the studying, every question came out of the book instead of from class discussion. lf we crammed big time, we went blank after reading the first question - because a test is no piece of cake! ,.-aww TOP RIGHT: Audra Curry doesn't know that indigestion is caused by cramming while eating.CENTER RIGHT: Ms. Burns tries to intercept one of Gene Lusk's tips. BOTTOM LEFT: Carlos Lopez follows the rule, 30 Student Life Never let your right hand know what your left hand is doing. BOTTOM RIGHT: Who's doing the work here: Manuel Lopez or Curtis Jackson? i Qt?
