b' m- Racial Differences Hey, is your girlfriend Mexi- can? Nope, White. Doesn't that bother you?,' Nope.'l Well, don't the other guys stick it to you? Nope, racial differences make no difference at DH-J. They fthe people who countl said that DH-J was a racial mix. Our enrollment was 64070 Hispanic, 26070 white, 870 black and 201: Asian. Our figures weren't typical of America in 1986-but then nei- ther was our attitude about race. We were color blind. We saw people not as black, white, brown, or yellow, but as friends and teach- ers. Some of our parents criticized us for having friends that came from different backgrounds, but we knew that they were true friends, people we could count on. They not only taught us to persevere, they taught us to hope. Wwfi N -1 W sigh ft!
