'R- 'W'm AMW 3:3 5, E iii Homecoming Probs The plans began before anyone even thought about ordering mums. They began in September Student Council meetings. Then the possibilities seemed endless: we could have a dance or a bonfire- even a parade. Yeah, a pa- rade. GET REAL. We must have been afraid of good change as well as bad change fin a year that brought nothing but changel be- cause we never really got it togeth- er for the parade. There were prob- lems with the permit, problems with the flat beds, problems, prob- lems, problems . . . And then prob- lems with the weather. We just wer- en't meant to have a parade. Some werenft even meant to have mums. All clay girls walked around with sneers on their faces and lumps in their throats over the humiliation of it all, while others sported huge mums and conceited smiles. When it was time for the pep rally, we geered up only to be let down. It wasn't what we expected. Nothing was.
