Air Department Who were all those guys in with the Brown Shoes?! The Air Department, led by LCDR Ray Hayes and ADCS(AW) John Devera were always there to make sure that neither rain, nor stormy seas would keep the mail from getting through. You could always find this dedicated group working late at night in the hangar. On the side, they spent count- less hours hunting submarines, serving as DEYO ' s underway Taxi , and chasing down merchant ships during Adriatic Operations. It was a pleasure to have these fine professionals as part of the crew.
