 Bye, Bye Birdie Leah Wright keeps up her end of the conversation on all of the Tammy Lang hangs onto Russell Rowland to get his attention. Says Hello to Rock-n-Roll The DHS Acappella Choir proved that rock-n-roll is here to stay when they presented “Bye, Bye Birdie” to the city of Dexter last November. The play takes place in the 1950’s in the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio. Conrad Birdie, played by Russell Rowland, is a young rock-n-roll idol who has been drafted into the army. Albert, Conrad’s manager, writes a song for Conrad to sign as a farewell to his fans. Kim, played by Angie Hector, is a teenage girl who is chosen to be kissed by Conrad as he sings “One Last Kiss.” Conrad’s manager is portrayed by Kevin Miranda as Albert Peterson. Jamie Carmen plays Rose Alvarez, Conrad's secretary and girl friend. Kim McAfee, played by Angie Hector, is a teenage fan of Conrad’s. Lee Gibson and Danica Colyer are her parents. Gavin Miller portrays her brother, Ran- dolph McAfee. Kim’s good friend. Ursula Merkle, is played by Tammy Lang and Ursula’s mother is portrayed by Julie Coots. Carla Townsend acts the part of Albert’s mother, Mrs. Peterson. The mayor and his wife are portrayed by Mike Duley and Beth Clippard, Ann Marie Cook plays a secretary named Gloria While. Joe Dillahunty plays a teenager named Harvey Johnson. The entire choir participated in this production in one capacity or another. Acappella Choir gives their last tribute to Conrad Birdie as he leaves for the Army. Joe Dillahunty and Julie Dube possess the gift of gab. 17

Sondra Kirby, Joe Dillahunty and Julie Dube spread the latest musical gossip to other choir members. Gavin Miller and Angie Hector have a brother and sister fight as their mother, Danica Colyer, knits on. Kathy Tate, Shelly Kirby, Tammy Jones and Leah Wright create publicity posters for the play. 16

Cindy’s smile sparkles more brightly than her crown. Cindy Hufford Is Crowned Band Queen Senior Cindy Hufford was crowned Band Queen in a pre- game ceremony before a football game. Cindy has been active in Band for four years where she was a member of the flag corps. Marianne Rogers, a junior was selected first attendant. Marianne was escorted by Sophomore Larry Gilbow and Queen Cindy was escorted by Senior Greg Wamble. Marianne and Cindy are proud to represent the band. Happy smiles are on the faces of Cindy and Marianne as they pose with The entire Band Court stands proudly before their fans at Charles Bland Stadium, their escorts; Greg Wamble and Larry Gilbow. 18
