Stephanie is the First Choir Princess in DHS History A recent addition to DHS royalty was the crowning of Stephanie DuBois as the first Choir Princess. Among her other activities, Stephanie is president of the senior class. She has sung soprano in the Concert Choir for four years. She has also served as vice-president of the organization during her junior and senior years. Princess Stephanie was crowned during the Christmas Concert on Thursday De- cember 16. She was escorted by Michael Glenn, a senior member of the choir. The court consisted of Penny Garner, a senior member of the choir, who was escorted by Mark Glenn. The sophomore member of the court was Angie Hector. The freshmen were represented by Kristi Vaughn. They were escorted by Gerald Guzman and David Christian. Each member of the court was presented with a long-stemmed rose with the princess receiving a bouquet. I am very surprised that I was chosen. I am very happy and excited. I can't believe it! said a very happy Stephanie. 22 Mike enjoys kissing the princess.

Barnwarming '83: A Lasting Tradition Beginning in the old days, friends often came together to build a new barn for a neighbor. During the course of the day. the men labored to raise the walls fo the structure while the women kept a steady supply of food and drink flowing to them. Children fetched, carried and played as the barn grew. When the last nail was driven in place and sometimes even before the sawdust had settled, someone broke out a fiddle and toes began to tap. There was food, fun and dancing for all as the newly-raised barn was “warmed . Nowadays, professional builders construct our barns, but thanks to the efforts of FFA and FHA. the Barnwarming tradition is still alive at DHS. The fiddles of yesteryear were replaced by rock music from a sound system. However, the fun. the dancing and the smell of hay were still there. Camie Putnam was presented with a new white jacket as she was selected the FHA Queen. Brad Hubbard donned a new cowboy hat signifi- cant of his being chosen as the king of FFA. 21 Rhonda Robinson decorates for the dance. Queen Camie and King Brad reign over the Barnwarming.
