Before becoming superintendent in 1941, he served as High School principal. Mr. Hill has spent the last 37 years of his career as the Dexter Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Carl Davis will be taking his place next school year. In February, 1978, the community had an assembly in the High School Auditorium to honor Mr. Hill's fine performance. The picture below was taken at the honoring reception at the High School. Above, Mr. Hill is busy at his desk, and right, Mr. Hill and Joe Craig are shown together with the portrait of the superintendent which now hangs in the lobby of the T.S. Hill Middle School. Organizations DHS Marching Bearcat Band The 1977-78 Bearcat Marching Band had a very hectic season. Members of the band showed enthusiasm and loyalty by attending show rehearsals during the summer before school even started classes. The band braved rain, cold, and a muddy football field to support their team and to present a half-time show to be enjoyed by all. The members worked hard for each show and especially for the contest which was held at Charleston on October 15. The band entered the street competition and field competition. The drum majors were also judged in the category of dual field conductors. A second place trophy was won by the band for street marching and first place was won by the drum majors. The band also attended and performed at the band festival which was held at Poplar Bluff. The band presented the show that they had prepared for contest and performed in the mass band show. Another field show was presented at Poplar Bluff when the band traveled there for a football game. The season was closed with the Homecoming game and Senior show. The seniors were honored by the underclassmen playing Pomp and Circumstance as each senior's name was called. The seniors expressed their appreciation to Mr. Clippard by presenting him with a carnation boutonniere. Pictured above is the Marching Bearcat Band. At left are the Drum Majors for the year.
